From my point of view, the most interesting place is in the Yaroslavl region. I would especially like to thank the guide Irina for a very interesting two-hour excursion.

an unusual museum where everything is based around one theme, but the amazing collection of exhibits, excellent guided tour in Russian and fun activities the knowledgeable guide did made for a memorable experience and a great way of winding down after visiting the kremlin a couple of hundred metres away.

Our kids really enjoyed this museum (though it is really only one room.) It is in the Kremlin wall and has a collection of bells, the best part is they have different hammers that you can use to try how hitting different parts of the bells or using different hammers can make different sounds. One of the bells we were asked not to play (it looked like maybe it was cracked). There was also a display on how bells were cast (in Russian and English) that was quite interesting. It really only takes 20 minutes max to see everything. You have to buy tickets at the central Kremlin cashier you can't buy them at the museum.
