My wife and I loved this museum. Imagine, an entire museum dedicated to the mythical exploits of a fictional character. This might seem absurd, but then you visit the museum and the genius of the place reveals itself. The many galleries contain lovely works of art depicting the improbable events in the lives of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, and scholarly books about the author, Don Miguel de Cervantes, and his world-famous book. My wife and I loved this place. In fact, we visited twice in our five-day stay.

Casa Museo Gene Byron

American artist marries and she and hubby buy an old hacienda and renovate it. Now it is a museum since Gene Byron, the American artist, dies. But she was amazing. There is an abundance of her paintings on display, in a really enviable setting. (I so wanted to have bought that place, dozens of years ago). But she was not merely a painter. She also designed furniture, and lamps, and dishes, and other things I can't remember. The overall impression is of a very sophisticated and talented renaissance woman with the means to create a wonderful oasis of tranquility. Pretty much my favorite museum in the Guanajuato area. Highly recommended. Nice gift shop, and great coffee in the coffee shop. Oh--they have Sunday piano concerts. We heard someone practicing in this amazing and wonderful gallery, upstairs, and I would have loved to have been able to be there for a full concert. Check out their web site.
