A fascinating insight into this unique and iconic Australian industry and explore the wonder and magnificence of nature.
Did the self-guided tour for $5 which included an informative video about opals in Australia. Lots of beautiful stones to see and some available to buy. Made me appreciate opals and their history more

Set amongst the graceful landscape of Old Petrie Town, Pine Rivers Heritage Museum explores the district's historic character. Learn about early timber-getters and industries, experience an 1890s school classroom and glimpse life before electricity in an original farm workers cottage. The museum features: - a theatrette that animates the history of the region in film and some surprising objects - one of the earliest kit homes produced by James Campbell and Sons in the 1890s - artefacts uncovered at Camp Strathpine, a Second World War military facility - the Skyring Clock Collection of fifty clocks skilfully hand-built by one man - stories of early European settlement told by descendants of pioneering families - films about Normanby Rum, the Australian Paper Mill and other early industries - a diverse program of events and workshops for adults and children.

Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience. We are currently closed pending a Government Proposal to re-establish the museum in Ipswich. This action has been necessary as we negotiate a significant expansion program including the Qld Government and the Workshops Rail Museum in Ipswich

Fun adventure for the entire family - TAVAS living early aviation display. The most unique aviation museum in Australia. The only museum in this country that concentrates solely on the first 30 years of powered flight - and houses the only collection of flying WWI type aircraft in Australia. Includes several aircraft that can't be seen anywhere else in the Southern Hemisphere.
TAVAS, what a fantastic place to visit. I had expected to spend, at most an hour here. Over 2 hours later my wife phoned me asking if I had actually forgotten her. "Ah no, just so much to see and take in here." Nathalie and Andrew were both so friendly and so willing to share their knowledge of this wonderful place. I will certainly be back, when we are in Noosa for Christmas.

Museum of Brisbane is located on Level 3 of the newly restored Brisbane City Hall. Our story is Brisbane's story - the lives of those who lived here, the events that have shaped our history and the places that we hold dear. As a museum dedicated to the city, we celebrate the people, places and stories of Brisbane. Museum of Brisbane presents these stories through an innovative mix of social history and visual arts. Every exhibition is an opportunity to discover more about ourselves and our city. Our carefully curated events, workshops and tours are designed to help you delve even deeper. We are a space where stories unfold - a place for meaningful dialogue; enjoyable, entertaining experiences; and a place to explore and share in the identity of Brisbane. While the Museum's story is only 10 years old, we are the narrators of a story far older: Brisbane's story.
Definitely the tour guide made the tour. He was informative and funny adding humor that added to the tour. And to top it off it was a Free tour.
