Comprising the provinces of Alicante, Valencia and Castellon, Valencian Country basks on the Mediterranean Coast in central southeastern Spain. The densely populated area is a prime tourist destination, with Valencia city having the reputation as the place the Spanish go to party. The area offers budget resorts, such as those on the Costa Blanca, to upscale villas in elegant Valencia. Small villages are scattered through the mountainous inland region, but it's the coast that remains the main draw.

My wife and I have stayed at a lot of hotels and this is definitely one of the best. The location is excellent for places of interest and bars/restaurants. The building is an old palace with a lot of interesting features. Our room was quite large, with a good shower and a lovely balcony. There is also a wonderful roof top area. All the staff our very friendly and helpful. A special mention for Alvaro, our waiter for breakfast, who was exceptional. The breakfast was excellent and the breakfast area was lovely. We can usually find something we do not like about a hotel, but we couldn’t fault this hotel at all.

Kortom wij genieten!!!

Our second visit and it was just as good as the first! A warm welcome from the reception staff and our room was ready early. The room was very clean and has all of the facilities needed for our stay. The location is fantastic - in the old town and a short walk from all of the main attractions. We will definitely be booking again.

Tucked up, just off the beach, is a great hotel! Excellent, spacious room, modern and very well equipped. This is a real find. A welcoming smile from Lorena set the tone. Everything about this family run hotel said, welcome. There was secure, though tight, parking for our Audi Avant. A very brief walk and we were at the beach with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Breakfast was plentiful and the coffee very good. Benicarlo may not be a number one destination for travelers but If you are going to be in this general area drive the few extra kms because this is definitely the place to lay your head.

Hotel El Cid was easy to find, just inside the wall gate and check in was quick and welcoming. There is apparently lots of free parking on the streets of the village, but you should note that there are only a few spaces in front of the hotel. If you want to find street parking you have to turn left immediately before the hotel, and that street is where you should look for space. As things looked a bit busy on the parking front, when the receptionist offered us a space in the hotel garage for 10Euros we jumped at it, and I have to say that as far as entry space and the actual parking bays are concerned, it’s probably the best hotel garage I’ve ever used. The hotel is probably what you would rate as 2 star, which is reflected in the fact that instead of air conditioning there is a ceiling fan. Whether this becomes a problem later on, only time will tell! Our room on the 4th floor is spacious enough and very nicely furnished and decorated. It has a modern en-suite bathroom And it also has a balcony overlooking the valley below, with a couple of chairs to sit on. Our bed was very comfortable and, with some cool air coming in the partially opened window and the fan on, the lack of air conditioning wasn’t an issue and we slept very well. Breakfast was very nice and was brought to you. It consisted of orange juice, yogurt, melon, pane con tomate, cheeses, ham and, of course cakes (which is still a strange concept for me!). It was all very nice and was taken in a nice dining room overlooking the village walls. What a lovely way to start the day. Morella is a lovely village and Hotel el Cid is a perfect place to stay. Service has been warm and friendly and we would certainly stay here again.

We chose this hotel for its location, right in the town centre, and it was a great choice. The Staff are very friendly and helpful, and offer good service. The rooms are nice, well equipped and very clean. During the lockdown, as a resident, you can have a meal (and a drink) between 8-9 pm, which is a bonus as everywhere else closes at 6pm. Only downside for us was the pillow, for the double bed it’s the Spanish single type, we prefer a pillow each, which you can get from reception. Recommended

Pros: Clean place, rooms are clean, toilet was clean 10 mins walk from beach Plenty options for restaurants Parking available on the street easily Free covered parking is also possible Cons: Slight disturbance from traffic if you have a road facing room Noise from other rooms is also a major disturbance. Our neighbours were arguing loudly at 4 AM and that completely wrecked my sleep. Overall: good value for money paid.

Recently open Hotel that stands out in a street full of other hotels, apparently older and worn-out. The reception is always open and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Yana and her colleagues dedicated a lot of time to find and book for us the perfect restaurant for a great paella. The rooms and the rest of the facility are perfectly clean. The room is spacious and quiet, Bathroom with a nice shower. Pity that the water is probably de-salted and so it does not wash away the soap. The minus: price is too high for what you get. The beach is just out of the door but you have to go on your own, the hotel has no facilities on the beach. No flexibility at all in what you get for breakfast. No bike rental on site.
