Louisiana tourism is centered on New Orleans and the North Shore region in the southeastern corner of the state near the Florida border. West of New Orleans is the Great River Road, with the I-10 running to the Mississippi River port capital city of Baton Rogue. West of New Orleans along the Gulf of Mexico, the I-10 cuts through Lafayette and Lake Charles on its way past Abbeville to Texas. Central Louisiana is Lake Country, and home to cities like Alexandria and Natchitoches. In northern Louisiana, the I-20 runs west from Monroe to Bossier City, Shreveport, and East Texas. Unless Louisiana is very familiar and frequent territory, New Orleans will be the top choice for a Louisiana vacation. Though Mardi Gras, music, and the winning ways of the New Orleans Saints football team get the spotlight, there is much more to explore in New Orleans. Within New Orleans choose among Bourbon Street, Royal Street, the Upper and Lower French Quarters, the Warehouse and Central Business District, the Garden District and Uptown, and Mid-City. With street car lines linking the French Quarter to the Garden District, Convention Center, and everywhere else, it is easy for the whole family to get around. If long walks are your exercise, explore the scenic city on foot. An easy two-hour drive from New Orleans brings you to Baton Rogue, Natchitoches and Lake Country. Explore old Beauregard Town in downtown Baton Rogue, the historic homes of the Baton Rogue Garden District, and tour one or several working plantations. Walk the 33-block Historic Landmark District and tour the historic homes and churches of Natchitoches. Relive Spanish Empire history in Louisiana at Fort St. Jean Baptiste State Historic Site. Heading west from New Orleans is Cajun Country and Lafayette with its mix of French, French Canadian (Acadian), Spanish, and Caribbean cultures. Besides Cajun and Creole cookery, explore the Civil War heritage at the Lafayette Museum. Stop by Abbeville to view the courthouse designed by Hayes Town, St. Mary Magdalen Church, and have a seafood meal. With 75 annual festivals Lake Charles is Louisiana's Festival City, and home to the Creole Nature Trail Scenic Byway. Shreveport and Bossier City in northwest Louisiana are casino and entertainment centers. Shreveport is renowned for hosting the Louisiana State Fair in the fall. Plus floral centers, art galleries, and museums. Monroe in the northeast also has notable gardens.

Built in a beautifully restored 1890s home, the Abita Springs Hotel has five spacious suites, each privately accessed from the wraparound porch. The hotel sits above a charming courtyard garden, featuring the healing waters of one of the town's famed artesian springs. Quiet, intimate, and comfortable, the Abita Springs Hotel promises a restful and restorative stay.
Abita Springs Hotel provided the right ambiance combination to match its town. It almost felt like you were transported to Mayberry in the Andy Griffith TV show. The room's decor was just right, tasteful and appropriately chic for the right look. The layout was set comfortably along a small seating area. The bathroom was easy to move across with a large shower. Plenty of perks, including a wine opener and glasses, nice plates, utensils, microwave and small refrigerator with freezer. I just would suggest to have the freezer defrosted more often, so that there would be more space available for storage, aside from just ice. Plenty of coffee, tea and some snacks. The second floor had a wrap around porch that included more than one set of rocking chairs along the windows and they were situated right underneath ceiling fans. Suggestion, the porch's floor needs some refurbishing. The free parking was on the back, but there was plenty of room on the front to load and unload your luggage. The hotel was walking distance to restaurants and cafes, Sunday's Farmers Market, across a walking/running/biking path that is close to 30 miles long, and Abita Springs Mystery House. Some venues are closed on Sundays and Monday's, but nearby, less than 5-10 minutes by car, there is another town called Covington which has more opened on those days, quite, picturesque too and convenient. Nice visit!

Saint Philip Residence a Hospitality of New Orleans property has been often called the best-hidden gem in the city. At the Saint Philip Residence, there's plenty of room to relax; Our rooms are all apartments, arranged more like home than a traditional hotel room with fully equipped kitchens, dining area, and living rooms. You'll feel right at home with us!
Not as nice as it looks. Fridge did not work. At first we thought there was no hot water, being on the 3rd floor, it just needed to be run a bit to heat up. Looks like they are trying to renovate but just wasn’t up to our standards.

What a great hotel! New, fresh and trendy decor, lovely breakfast, plenty of room in the room. Beds and pillows very comfy/cozy. The bathroom was very spacious, with a rain shower showerhead- super nice! The front desk was super helpful with any questions and towel requests. It was a great stay! We will definitely look for other Elements when traveling again!

The Ben Louie is a small 19 room boutique hotel located in the heart of the Mid City neighborhood in New Orleans, LA. The Ben Louie (which has had many different names throughout its history) was built back in 1962 and was a roadside inn for people traveling and needing a place to crash up until June 2016 when it was closed, completely remodeled and reopened on 4/1/17 as a funky, modern, hotel!
These guys are scam artists. First they tried to tell me they had no rooms available and not refund me my already booked $180 reservation. Then they got aggressive with me and claimed my name didn't match the name on my booking, then when I threatend to send expedia my passport photo, they demanded a $50 incidental before I could check in. After I checked out, they picked through the garbage can to find loose tobacco that I roll, take photos of it, and then claim I smoked in the room. I was charged another $300. That's $480 for a roach motel room. He knew I didn't smoke in the room. Relished telling me he looked forward to reading this copmlaint. THESE GUYS ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED. cHECK THERE BBB REVIEWS AS WELL. THEY LOVE TO SCAM PEOPLE.

de la Bleau B&B is a true, old Mandeville charm on the lake! Our amenities include wireless internet, HDTV, refrigerators, microwaves, coffeepots, blow dryers, safes, irons and ironing boards in every room. Our rooms are en suite with decorated private baths and dinette sets. Each room has a different décor, and of course, they come with an amazing view of the beautiful Lake Pontchartrain. You can even see the 24-mile Causeway Bridge, and on most days you can even see New Orleans! You will enjoy many amazing sunsets fall through spring, from either the windows or the cozy porches that face the lake. All of the old charm. Starting with the outside, hand-cut railings and gingerbread tile in the gables highlight the handcrafted western red cedar corbels. French-style mahogany doors stand eight feet tall, accent the corbels, and ultimately create an inviting tone.
We have stayed in 2 other BnB’s in the Mandeville Covington area in the last couple of years and de la Bleau was the Best! Our room was large and well decorated with a king size bed, huge closet and bathroom, comfortable sofa and a table that was big enough for the two of us to sit comfortably. All of the common areas were comfortable and also well decorated. Every thing around was well maintained. The Saturday made to order breakfast was delicious! We enjoyed visiting with the owners and other guests while our food was prepared and served. We had the option to take the food to our room but preferred the company. The location near the Mandeville lakefront was awesome! Several great places to eat nearby and being able to take my morning walk along the lakefront was so enjoyable! We will go back! We loved it! Sleep Inn in Geismar - Gonzales offers 100% smoke free rooms with 40 inch flat screen televisions. This interior corridor hotel is excellent for leisure and business travelers. We are located 5 miles from Baton Rouge as well as located 4 miles from the Tanger Outlet in Gonzales.
Young ladies at the front desk were extremely unprofessional and disrespectful during check in when a miscommunication had occurred, Instead of trying to be understanding and accommodating, Extremely poor customer service!

First, I booked online through the motel's website and had confirmation of the reservation and price in email. When I checked in, they said they were "no longer honoring those prices" and "it must be a computer mistake", despite the fact that the email came directly from them. They demanded $10 extra for the checkin. Given the late hour, I stayed anyway. My "nonsmoking" room reeked of smoke. The only bedding was a cruddy bedspread over a thin sheet. There was mold in the shower. Nothing to recommend, unfortunately. There are two other similar priced motels at this exit. Stay in one of those.

Amazing stay with amazing service!! Everyone was extremely helpful during the check in process, and they checked in on us multiple times. The suite was very clean and had a full kitchen. Location is close enough to walk to anywhere in the French Quarter you want to go.
