Edinburgh’s neighborhoods developed as the city did. Originally its heart lay in the alleys and cobbled streets of the Old Town, below the castle. Then, in the late-18th century, the residential focus shifted north to a huge planned Georgian New Town. That’s now become the city’s business center, while visitor attractions and nightlife have become fairly evenly shared between these two central districts. Around them, a ring of residential districts now house most of those living in central Edinburgh. Though less good for sightseeing, these neighborhoods are just as busy and typified by thriving restaurant scenes and large parks.

We arrived at midday for a flight the next day we dropped the hire car off across the road, and as we were traveling to the US we needed to get a Covid test which was in the airport. All this within 5 minutes walk. The hotel let us leave our bags so we got the tram into Edinburgh for the afternoon/evening, the tram stop is next to the airport all really convenient. The hotel looked like it had just been built all immaculately clean and modern the rooms were very nice and the bathroom was very clean and spacious. Breakfast in the morning was a buffet style a just a cut above the usual breakfast you would get in a US airport hotel. The price was at the high end (hence only 4 stars), but for convenience would definitely stay there again.

I am not one to leave a bad review but our room had not even been cleaned. Being so tired after travel we passed out and left the next day rather than staying the next two nights booked and asked for the rest of the stay to be refunded. They agreed that this was ok and to contact booking.com to get refund. Nearly 8 months later and after several calls to booking.com the accommodation has still not released the funds for us to receive the refund and therefore myself and my friend have been left having to pay for somewhere we didn’t even stay. Wouldn’t recommend staying here.

For the price you can't go wrong this place, I've stayed twice. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Only issue is that the walls are very thin so you can hear everything and mattresses aren't comfortable.

Feeling more like the private home away from home, the property features only 10 boutique suites situated in the historic heart of Edinburgh making it the perfect place to stay whether you are visiting for business or pleasure. However, the only thing these suites share with historic Edinburgh is their address. Each suite is contemporary and naturally decorated, to contrast the traditional and busy city outside, making it a tranquil place to rest your head after a long day in the city. With beautiful views of Arthur Seat from your bedroom window, you can forget you are in the middle of bustling Edinburgh. The added beauty is they’re all uniquely diverse, ranging from intimate double bed suites to larger two-bedroom suites at the top of the tower, each individually and elegantly appointed with artwork and fittings giving the rooms an organic and natural feel, perfect for those wanting to sleep from one to six guests. Guests of the suites will enjoy the pampered lifestyle that accompanies being a resident at Mono Tower; ideal location for convenient Edinburgh living and indulging in our restaurant just at your doorstep. They each come fully furnished and include living areas, full kitchens, luxurious linens and all the modern conveniences one could possibly hope for in an Edinburgh residence. Guests will also receive a wide number of services and amenities which include, but are not limited to: Kitchen linens and utensils | Bathroom towels | Toiletries | 4k SMART televisions where you can enjoy Netflix | Bluetooth Soundbars | discount at the 2 Restaurants within the Mono Tower complex | We hope you enjoy your stay with us!
At first glance very happy with suite 12 new and fresh plus space for a city centre. Location good next to plwnt y of bars, the Royal Mile and restaurants. All good until time for bed then we realise the window was broken and the room was above a karaoke bar and nightclub plus thoroughfare to bar on the lower streets. I suspect this was known as there was earplug in the drawers. So not much sleeo but if this was rectified worth a trip back

Haven’t stayed yet but not looking forward to it. Made a mistake when booking clicked the non-cancellation instead of free cancellation option, i spotted the mistake straight away I then offered to pay more to be able to accommodate this in my booking due to the unstable travel situation we have with covid. Thought they would have the understanding over this but obviously not very poor customer service

Turned up early, trying to use our code which, unfortunately didnt work. Called thw number given if any problems, we explained to the man and he said sorry check in at 2 which we understood, he let us keep our luggage in his cupboard. We went with our day and came back at 2, ready for a shower and a nap as we'd only had 2 hours sleep. To be greeted by no one. When called the owner he explained his wife should be there and to walk down and knock on the door. Which we did, she took us to our room, and told us she needs our key to cut it as the previous people lost theres. We werent keen on this and told her she would have the spare ones back. We got in the room and i wont lie it smelt like sex. The bedding had stains, and the covers that are meant to cover you were actually a throw meant to be at the end of the bed. The pillows smelt used. We looked in the cupboards to check for a hair dryer only to come across mould and peoples leftover rubbish, which clearly hadn't been cleaned out in a while. Tried to have a shower and the water is either burning your skin or freezing no inbetween, and the best thing was it cut out on my friend whilst she had shampoo in her hair and make up running down her face. We also noticed the left over shampoo and body wash left for us. We lucky bought our own. Avoid like the plague. We found a hotel with a toilet and shower both working and no funky stains or smells

Cowgate is one of our most central accommodations in Edinburgh. You find yourself in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town with loads of nice pubs, restaurants and festival venues just next door. Only a couple of minutes to Edinburgh Castle or the Royal Mile. Ideal if you want to be out in town for the whole day and enjoy your cozy bed after a long day out. All of the rooms at Cowgate are private ensuite rooms and there are common areas with shared kitchens where you can socialize and enjoy a quiet evening as well.
The location is amazing. But the rooms are very small. And the standard of cleanliness is poor - there were obvious signs of neglect in or room, such as discarded tissues on the floor in the wardrobe, and hairs in the shower.
