Two of us dined here whilst staying in Ahetze. We paid 73 euros for three courses, a jug of sangria, a bottle of cider and a glass of wine. The food is typical of the Basque region. It is home-cooked and served by very friendly staff. The food was very tasty and plentiful. We dined on the outside terrace. We would recommend it if you are in the area.Reservations are recommended.

I ate breakfast, dinner and lunch in the restaurant, as I had a 3 day stay in the hotel. The main purpose of the visit was to attend a wedding and despite the large numbers (over 150) both the quality of the food and the service were excellent. I do not know the name of the dish, but the day after the wedding, lunch comprised lamb legs and ribs suspended over a charcoal fire, which were exceptionally good. Apparently, it is a Basque specialty. For dinner that day, I had large prawns cooked in a garlic dressing, with a mixed salad, all of which was prepared to a very high standard. If you read my review of the hotel, you will observe that I was not at all impressed and would not stay there again, but I would travel a considerable distance to enjoy the superb food served in their restaurant.

Its not often that i eat lunch at a restaurant 2 days in a row ,but made an exception here as the food is fantastic.Had the Fish in red peppers as starter followed by the fish of the day and the 3 assorted mini deserts( Brulee,Chocolate cake, cheesecake). On the 2nd day had the Ham platter followed by the Duck and large Creme Brulee. Without exception the food was perfectly cooked and beautifully accompanied By potato dauphinoise and stunning Plum sauce with the duck. The service was great, couldnt fault it, oh and wait the price was â¬22 each inc. wine! This lovely located Restaurant does the simple things simple. Its so easy to get a creme brulee wrong, and this was by far the best i have ever eaten. Its not easy to find(signposted from bottom of Sare village) but boy is it worth finding!

At the far end of the village, this simple outdoor restaurant is better than the tourist traps at the other end. Good local food and a welcoming host. Reasonable prices. Go no further.

without a doubt the best food we have eaten anywhere in the world, the tastes just exploded in your mouth, the "amuse bouche"alone was a gastronomic experience, i am still salivating 5 days after returning home, and writing this,if you visit Biarittz, (we stayed just 3 miles down the road at the superb Chateau de Clair De Lune)forget the hundreds of other restaurants, and just treat youselves, to a meal I know we will never forget

This is a great place to experience the Basque French rural area -- this is truly a local place supported by locals and not at all a tourist stop. The food is limited but is fresh and delicious. The place is clean and the service great.

The LASAI, St Pée sur Nivelle, offers an Italian inspiration "homemade cuisine" revisited with fresh products of the Basque Country. Sheep cheese, Espelette pepper, piquillos, lomo, xistorra as well as ocean products. Generous dishes rich in local flavors
We had the Menu De Jour, we started with a potato and herring salad, which was really refreshing and tasty, followed by pork steaks with a lovely sliced potato and green bean side dish, complimented with a gorgeous sauce. The pudding was a red berry mouse which was light and delicious. It was a really busy day and the atmosphere was great, we were made to feel very welcome, despite our very poor French!

We arrived to our accommodation tired and hungry and our hosts recommended Trinquet Pleka, only a short walk from Chalet Elisa. On realising our limited French the chef came out to personally explain the menu. We elected to have entree, main and dessert/cheese which all sounded fabulous. Chef said he would also bring us a small serve of lentil soup each which was yummy but filling. Our eyes were bigger than our tummies but there was no problem changing / reducing the order for our dessert/cheese course. The food was all beutifully fresh, local (Basque) or traditional (French) and the service was friendly and the courses arrived nicely spaced out. The place was filled with locals and the bar in the next room was busy and happily noisy. It is also possible to get simple fare including a hamburger but all made on site including the bread.

Our second visit. Service as good as ever. Surroundings are modern and clean. Lovely oil paintings on the wall. 2 muse bouche. Anchovies in a dressing and a tiny butternut squash soup with chestnuts, delicious. I had foie gras for starters, my husband had the cepe omelette. Both were lovely. We ate a la carte, I had a mixed fish dish for mains, my husband had the tournedos of beef. Both great choices. No pudding, but all washed down with a local wine.
