I had a dish recommended by someone who had just finished their meal - hake (a kind of fish) ?? In any case, she was right. The meal was delicious and the location is great for sitting outside and people watching.

This farm is located in beautiful Pyrenees countryside. The owners provide very good home cooked meals using ingredients from their farm. It's a great place to stop with a motorhome (no charge if you buy a little of their excellent farm produced products) or you can stay in their holiday cottage. It's an unspoilt area but there's plenty of activities to do nearby or if you prefer, walk a little and relax a lot.

Pure French tradition, cautiously respected. Everything is prepared in the kitchen (even the bread) with the best genuine local products. The chef is really keen on selecting the best producers and on preparing everything himself. The wine selection is absolutely perfect, the service is efficient and polite, the location inside the house or in the garden is gorgeous. All of that for very decent prices. What a work ! Thank you and Vive la France !

I'm reviewing this as an "attraction" and not the restaurant. There are plenty of cute baby pigs in the pens and a nice hike along the trail. The shop is cute and full of fun things to buy and enjoy. We really enjoyed the baby pigs. Its a wonderful story how the saved this breed of pig. Swing by for a visit if you're in the area. Dear paulfo1012, Thank you so much for your feedback ! We are very happy you enjoyed this moment ! Hope to see you again !

We went there after a little walk in the beautiful basqueland (my family go there often but for me it was the first time) and I was really pleased with my lunch. The food is simple but the quality is high. The service was efficient and the prices very good.Well done.

Ii arrived without a booking to a completely full restaurant. Although the place was busy and the wait staff was kept on their toes, they were very friendly and attentive, offering me a place to wait for a table. I had a good vantage point overlooking the terrace which is right on the river. I was all prepared to be ignored and forgotten (it would not be the first time in such a restaurant in France) but they remembered me and as soon as a table became free it was mine. Well done! A pretty extensive menu, with quite reasonable pricing. The dishes are copious, perhaps even too much. I could not manage to fit in a dessert, which was a pity as there were some promising items being served to other diners. A small carafe of (quite reasonable) local wine was Eur 5, and my total bill came to Eur 28. One of the two or three good restaurants in town (the others are really too tourist-focused with high prices and often disappointing food)

We wanted to buy wine at the coop in Irouleguy but being France it was (of course) closed for lunch from noon to 2pm, so we found the Fronton Brassiere in St Etienne de Baigorry for lunch. My husband had the plate du jour with soup. The veg soup was excellent - and roast pork & beans - just ok. I had the Baigorri Salad of greens and it was great; pickled asparagus and peppers, jambon, walnuts, honey and goat cheese. They cleverly folded the herbed goat cheese in a crepe and heated it, then placed it on top of the salad then dressed it with honey. A great idea, and I will try that at home. I also had the Tart Tatin with ice cream and it was very nice - very good pastry and apple filling. The atmosphere was pleasant, service very good and the patrons mostly locals.

Really enjoyed our brief stay at the hotel of which the restaurant was the highlight. The service was delightfully attentive and charming as staff explained ( in French) the unusual menu ( to us!) in detail. My husband played safe and ordered a steak with house frites: thick, juicy beautifully caramelised if a little rarer then he would normally order ( his insistence!). My Lamb fricassee was a suprise ( sweetbreads) but delicious and my daughter's duck heart was a culinary first for her. A great experience. Deserts were more generic and a little disappointing for that. House wine was very reasonably priced and drinkable. Overall a very enjoyable experience I'd happily repeat.
