I live in San Sebastián but have a house here and we come to cantabria every weekend, work permitting. Please don't be put off by the way it looks from the outside,it has a bar at the front which the locals use and often there are groups of people smoking outside and admittedly I wouldn't stop myself if I didn't know about the restaurant through the bar at the back. A couple of months ago they changed the chef and now they have a 5 course menu for 22⬠which changes every week.Fusion food is the theme and they take food from all over the world and put a Spanish twist.I've been there many times and with 5 courses there are too many to list however the salmorejo with tartare of tuna stands out and the radish sushi was amazing.Everything is homemade down to the Mexican tortillas and my Spanish girlfriend tells me the wine is always of a high standard ( I'm British and prefer a pint)! If this place was in Santander,Bilbao or donostia you'd have to book a month before and pay triple. If you're visiting cantabria or already live here then you really should take the time and pay mirones a visit, we've never been disappointed really can't recommend the food, drink or service highly enough. MuchÃsimas gracias Paul. Tus palabras son un premio para nosotros. Siempre es un placer atenderos.

This restaurant (also a hotel) is on the corner at the bottom of the hill leading up to the caves - Castillo and Las Monedas - in Puente Viesgo inland from Santander. It has a lovely big covered garden if the weather is fine, or plenty of inside tables with a view of the river. Very good food and masses of it. The three course Menu del Dia is excellent value - if you have enough appetite to do it justice. Also good value if you're not driving is the wine and water - they both comes with the menu deal - 2 litres of bottled water and a whole bottle of wine, whatever colour you like. Can't say fairer than that - all for 10 Euros! The service was very friendly and professional - just don't be put off if it takes them a few minutes to notice you when you first go in.

Really good Cantabrian cuisine, perhaps one of the best in the area. Great selection of wines. A wide variety of exquisite dishes, such as: Eggs and. Chorizo sausage, delicious Clams in green sauce, Huge juicy beefsteaks, Cocido Montañes ( exquisite bean stew). Not to be missed. The owner is an excellent host and is always available.

You wouldn't know this place was there as there is no signage from the main road. We only found it because of Trip Advisor. A beautiful courtyard with outdoor seating for food or drinks. We chose it because of the proximity to a wonderful play area and we were really pleased with the service. Four glasses of delicious local white wine in the sunshine for â¬6! We haven't eaten there yet but we fully intend to.

I had lunch here the other day with a group of travelers. The service was excellent as was the food. It seems that they have quite a crowd of hotel guests at lunch so it's best to reserve ahead. They open at 13:00. Great experience.

Finca de San Juan, a restaurant located in the heart of Cantabria, 22 km from Santander and Torrelavega 8 forms a historic formed by a Montanesa House whose tower dates back to the tenth century Ermita de San Juan (XVI century), surrounded a large forest
I have had several mid-day meals, the last on new years day. The dignified old manor building is surrounded by quiet lush garden with shady trees, and in good weather it is possible to eat outdoors (highly recommended). Other than this, both the food and services were good to vary good, and the overall experience a most enjoyable one. Once out of the restaurant the Romanesque jewel of Colegiata de Castaneda is a few hundred meters away, and would constitute the perfect brooch for your meal, both body and soul.

We only had raciones for lunch outside this beautifully positioned restaurant by the pedestrian bridge and riverside of this pretty Cantabrian village, but it was extremely competently done. The wine; an unusual blend of local Albarino and Reisling grapes was the best we'd had this holiday, and not bad value at 14 euros a bottle. But the outstanding feature was the welcome and the service; from William, the waiter who spoke perfect English thanks to his Irish language tutor and a visit to Dublin. So thanks! And if you're reading this, William, you will by now have, I am sure, consulted Professor Google, to learn the English word, the BILL, la cuenta, is derived not from the abbreviation of your own name, but from a 15th Century 'Middle English' word, in turn derived from the Norman French BILLE and the medieval Latin 'BULLAâ meaning a 'seal or sealed documentâ - which has also come to mean a list, note, paper currency or legal document?

We found it hard to understand the great popularity of this restaurant: while we were there, a large number of people who hadn't booked were turned away and it's no. 1 on the Trip Advisor list.Good points: helpful and rapid service. Bad points: Apart from stressful over-crowding and noise:Poor quality food.My salad was drowned in vinegar and not fresh.A dish called Pastele was served up in both savoury and sweet guises, a sickly sweet mess of semolina: sugar in a savoury dish is not acceptable, the leek (puerros) version had never been near a leek. The mushroom croquettes had not been near a mushroom.Sorry, can't recommend.Dear Duchessa,We are gladly full almost every day. We never turn away people, just give them the option of coming later: as you might understand, we will provide good food and good service to our customers, so we won't just seat them with no previous booking to give a poor service if we are already fully booked.Tripadvisor is a popular ranking site ranked by normal people, so they deserve your respect to their opinions. Our DUO DE PASTELES is one of the most famous and best rated dishes (I lived in England and what you call Pastel is not the same as what we call Pastel, you can always ask first).Leeks have always been leaks and boletus are always fresh to be transformed with the croquettes, what a pity you didnt feel it like that.Best regards,Laura.
