We ate early one evening at around 7pm and they were happy to accommodate us - even though they probably don't normally start their evening sitting until much later, maybe 8.30/9pm as is the Spanish way!Good service and a fairly typical carnivorous and fish filled menu. Very large portions (we shared one veal Cordon Bleu between two of us it was so large) and very good flavours. Reasonable value as well.

We just cannot resist and tell the world how great this place is. Found it on the way to Picos de Europa and liked from the first glance. Returning from our mountain adventure, we went to El Jisu for a lunch. We got a table near fireplace with great view on the mountains. The place is radiating at-home feeling with a lot of family artefacts, pictures, cozy furniture and hospital ambiance. The owner himself greeted and served us, was very helpful and attentive. The food is not pretentious but it is really tasty. Slow cooked lamb (specialty of the house) highly recommended by the owner was excellent! It was great to chill-out with a glass of wine after harsh weather conditions up in the mountains and enjoy local cuisine and hospitality.Above all it was probably our cheapest lunch in Spain!

If you want the typical dishes of this region then this is a great place to start. The menu of the day is a good option and gives you lots to try and a family of four. The service was good and the portion sizes enormous... Make sure you have not snacked before hand!!

Both the food and the service was fantastic. We arrived before opening time and we're asked if we would wait, which we happily did and they quickly opened for us. There were 8 of us with varying levels of Spanish but the waiter was fantastic, very patient and rephrased his responses until we understood. For example, telling us there was no need to order 2 lots of vegetables as the portions were big.The price was very reasonable coming to â¬25 each for 2 courses and drinks. The steak was the best I've had in a very long time, both tender and very flavoursome. Others had chicken and pork and reported those to also be excellent.

Highly recommended for lunch, dinner or just a snack and a beer at the bar. The service was fantastic, big thanks to Darragh and the team. The menu uses a great selection of local produce combined with some well known international dishes. We will most certainly be visiting again!!

The Hotel del Oso's restaurant offers top-quality cuisine based on the freshest seasonal produce and traditional Cantabrian dishes such as its celebrated cocido lebaniego, a local stew whose core ingredients are pork, beef, chickpeas and spring greens, fo
I stayed in the hotel for a week and dined at the restaurant twice. The food was universally excellent, with every member of our group being entirely satisfied with their choices. Portions are super generous- this seems to be a theme of restaurants in this area. Take your time, enjoy the mountain cuisine and use the energy to hike higher and further the next day.

After wandering around the village, seeing the rural schoolhouse museum and taking a short hike through the woods, we decided to stop at Queso y Cosas to have a light lunch. Great cheese and very good tapas. Well worth the visit. Service was friendly and efficient.

Small and comfortable place that locals can be found. Had the 3 course lunch menu which was wonderful. Only 20 euros for the two of us with wine. Service was kind and efficient even with our lack of Spanish. Afterwards drive up the hill to the village of Mogrovejo. You will take pictures you could only dream about or see in travel magazines.

Great place to eat local food in a non-touristy place. We were recommended from a local in Potes. It can be a little difficult to find but take the road from Potes toward Fuente De. It is around 16 km from Potes, on the left side of the road. It is a small restaurant run by a couple for 30 years. The food is typical from the region, we had the cocido and steak (chuleton) and both were excellent. The meat is cooked over a wood grill. Service was good but expect a nice 2 hour meal, not the place to go if you are in a rush but you should not be in a rush if you are on vacation enjoying a nice meal. We speak Spanish so not sure if English is spoken but everyone is friendly so I am sure it will work out.
