Used this place many times over the 3 month period we were staying in the area each time it seemed to get better. Staff are great although they don't speak much English.Menu del dia is a choice of 3 courses a salad soft drink beer or wine and coffee. Menu is in Spanish and some English. All this for 10 euros.

Chanced on this great restaurant by taking the wrong road to another place. Glad we made the mistake.Beautiful lunch in the shade of an orange tree, only sorry for the owner having to make frequent trips into the garden to present excellent dishes prepared with great style and care. Good choices for a lunch menu and very helpful for our vegan friend, nothing too much trouble. Being a late lunch we were able to spend the best part of two hours enjoying the meal.Would recommend visitors passing by in the region to call in, they will not be disappointed.We are also very happy that you made a little detour (mistake) whilst driving on the lovely quiet roads in Real Spain, rustic Andalucia in the interior of Almeria,The gardens are great for shade this time of the year and with a soft breeze make it an ideal place to dine and take in the ambience of the Spanish country side. Many of our customers now prefer to share dishes of the main menu as well as a selection of tapas.Therefore, we are adapting daily to our customer's wishes. To this extent; We are creating a new menu with a selection of everyone's favourite dishes and something new to try.The new menu will encourage the true "Spanish experience of family dining and sharing dishes" of slow food from our wood fired oven. We had the menu del dia here at 15 euros per person. Slightly above the Average rate for menu del dia locally Starters and main courses were delightful, lots of choice, and fresh. Desert however was a disaster. We had a choice between 3 different mouses, or carrot cake. So ordered carrot cake and got the worlds smallest portion of... lemon cake dyed orange? It was like a normal cake slice halved and halved again Surely if you can cook good main meals then you can make some simple deserts enough to give a normal sized portion?I also ordered drinks twice and never got them, had to ask repeatedly and it wasnât busy. Itâs a shame.

RESTAURANT LA VENTA ALFAIX.We dined at the restaurant La Venta Alfaix on May 30th for the occasion of my wifes birthday and thought that we had had a very enjoyable meal with them. We paid and tipped the staff and left feeling very satisfied.Unfortunately for us, after arriving back at our HPB apartment, we were subjected to a night of very unpleasant illness.I had four separate bouts of severe sickness, retching numerous times on each occasion, until my gut/stomach was completely empty of the contents of the meal.This was followed by numerous bouts of diarrhoea which continued throughout the night, leaving us with very little sleep. My wife started with bouts of diarrhoea around the same time as me, but thankfully avoided the sickness.We believed we had been subjected to food/drink poisoning in some way from the restaurant.The meal we had eaten was completely spoilt by the illness.We had to vacate our holiday apartment and leave the area the following morning, thereby depriving us of the opportunity of speaking with the restaurant about this situation directly.After exchanging emails with the restaurant management over the course of a week, we did not receive any apology, acknowledgment of responsibility, or reimbursement of our meal cost. The restaurant would not accept they had caused our illness.We feel very badly about the whole situation, and would advise anyone to think very carefully before using this restaurant in the future.

I visited the restaurant several times on my trip. Every time I was spoiled for choice.The Tuna Steak and veg was a particular favourite.All very well priced, great wine list and fantastic service.Xmas day we had a very good meal. Starters, mains, several bottles of wine, a few beers, coffee and liqueurs for under 80 Euro for both of us. Xmas day in the sun enjoying food with a great music from the local classical musicians.

It's not what it was (good food and wellcoming).In this incarnation, iit's over-priced and under-quality. Probably 40% more expensive than similar local restaurants, a premium not justified by frozen chips, over-cooked and under-weight lamb cutlets, and an apparently unhappy owner.We've been regular visitors in previous years. After this most recent experience, we're ex-customers.

We thought we might try this based on TripAdvisor recommendations. We drove up to the restaurant (a fun drive!) excited to see what it was like. Upon entry we were treated to a what can only be described as a filthy look from bar staff ... so we left. A smile costs nothing.... a lack of a smile or at least polite acknowledgement cost them my custom. Can't comment on the food.

We ordered full cooked breakfasts and teas. The waitress was friendly and our breakfast including toast and tea were soon served. The breakfasts would have fed 4 people instead of 2 but our plates were soon empty. Great value at 13.20 euros. The weekly market was on too ( Wednesday) not many stalls but plenty of fresh fruit and veg.
