Find out what Spanish restaurants to try in Arequipa. In Peru's second-most populous city, aka "The White City," stunning colonial buildings made of pearly sillar stone vie for attention with the surrounding volcanoes and snow-capped peaks of the western Andes. Founded in 1540, it's a smorgasbord of mansions and museums. The top attraction, 215,000-square-foot Santa Catalina Monastery, is like its own city within a city, complete with fountains and cobblestone streets. Arequipa is the favorite base for visiting Colca Canyon and its massive condors.

this small restaurant is located a couple of blocks from Plaza de Armas, on the main Jerusalen street. the entrance is not easy to find, just look for the board and go up a couple of steps. The daily lunch menu is very good (at 12.80 soles, aprox 4 $): a starter (if you ask for the paella, you'll barely be able to finish the plate), an entree (small but tasty), a small dessert (canned fruit salad, nothing special), and a "refresco" (fruit drink). If you go a la carte, the paella is ok (min 2 persons), as are the tapas (2 $ a piece). The restaurant is served by two giant elderly and kind Spaniards. The place is nothing special, it is like a family restaurant. If you are out for lunch, better pay a bit more than the usual menu price and get some solid spanish food.

Have come here two days in a row now. The smells in the courtyard are mouth watering. Sandwiches are great! Lots of good olive oil in the dressings and sandwiches. Bread is fresh. Coffees are good. French Toast is very sweet but great. Will probably be back tomorrow

Not a flash expensive restaurant but very fresh genuine Ceviche. We visited for Sunday lunch so were able to order a mixed seafood ceviche served in a broth which was yummy and also a combination plate which is only available on weekends. It was a very large serving of some rice with seafood mixed through as well as the traditional lemon marinated seafood and some yellow potato/pumpkin (not sure which) which was very tasty. Lots of Spanish families there which is a sure sign of quality. Wish we were in town longer to go again!

We were delighted with our food choices when visiting Zingaro, the food was wonderful, fresh and flavorsome. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The food is relatively inexpensive, however wine is very expensive. I was surprised to see one of the chefs using a spoon which he stores in his arm pocket to taste the food and then put it back in his pocket. I did not see him once clean the spoon even though he placed it in multiple dishes. This was a little off putting.

Did a 2 hour cooking class with Arrhur himself, learning how to make ceviche and alpaca meat, and then being able to eat them after. Arthur was incredibly attentive and helpful, showing us various techniques and skills that we could take home. We also took home the receipes. The food itself was amazing!

Good cheap local food. We shared a table with some locals and they were really nice to explain to us what the different dishes were exactly. They donât have many vegetarian options but they helped us find something. We got a huuge serving of really tasty food.
