Stopped here on our first night in Punta del Diablo. Beer was cold and the staff very friendlyWe both had the fish of the day which came with a tomato and pepper type of sauce and sliced potatoes - portion was large and tasty We paid by card.

Hey guys, if you open a restaurant you should know how to cook. If cooking means that you only fry things...that's strange. It's not so hard to prepare decent food. Only fried calamari were ok. Sorry - big dislike!! Folks, don't go.

We had a brownie, a coffee and some licuados here. The coffee was decent, the brownie and the licuados were really good. Service was excellent.

Franca Restaurante is located in the best point of Punta del Diablo, Uruguay. With the best view, you will be able to enjoy the best international cuisine and bar. We will be expecting you this season to share and taste our menu. Franca Team.
First night went to Il Tano, second to Franca. Both worth going to. Excellent ceviche to start. Had the corvina as a main - very good. Staff advised us that the other fish not that good that day. Seafood risotto excellent. Very helpful staff who have good English.

After coming across a ton of rave reviews of Panes y Peces online, I was excited to try the restaurant out. I even walked from one end of town to the other to get to Panes y Peces. Sure, the food was delicious, the service decent and the ambience nice, but hardly enough to write home about. I've dined at better middle-class restaurants across South America. I know everything is expensive in Uruguay during summer so I was expecting the bill when it arrived. I am just saying that the prices of the dishes do not justify the portion size or quality. The banana flambé with ice cream (USD7) was a skinny little banana sliced into half and served with the tiniest scoop of ice cream. My main, the grilled fish was served with roast potatoes that were dry and rather tasteless. And the bread basket was not accompanied by olive oil or butter. Condiments like salt and pepper were also not laid out on the tables. Overall, while promising and probably one of the better restaurants in town, it could've been a better meal. You're not missing out on anything even if you don't get to try Panes y Peces.

Since Dec 2010 Arrai Beach Bar is definitely a meeting point in Punta del Diablo. Its panoramic terrace offers the best view towards the hill of the Fishermen, the rocky point and the hill of the Rivero simultaneously. A simple menu with original dishes,
I stumbled upon Arrai without having seen the reviews on Tripadvisor. There are not that many bars literally on the beach but this one has a perfect location. The wine is excellent (can't say that of all the places I visited there), the food is yummy (really enjoyed the eggplant dish) but the family that runs it, two brothers, Nacho and Pedro and their sister Pepi make it that you want to return. And Nacho is actually a professional musician and orchestra leader, I really appreciated his input in music there.Go there and stay there!
