Things to do in La Rioja

Consigliato.
I went there one time and the pizza was excellent. They also do shows at night which is very nice. I recommend it if you want to have a good time in summer!

In the middle of nowhere! On the way to Talampaya National Park. What a treat, we were a party of 11, everyone had a different dish, and everyone was absolutely fantastic. The chef/owner was super nice and just a great person. The wines were good and plenty of local wines. If you get the chance make it a must see

Warm and peaceful place high on the Special Capital city for tourists.
As mentioned in other posts La Rioja not really geared up for tourism.Went for dinner on Wednesday evening around 9pm. Only ones there. Seemed like the best option available from looking on TA and wandering around. Quite close to libertador hotel (again probably best of limited selection). Had stuffed chicken breast and sautéed potatoes which was fine. No ambiance, played horrific covers of the Beatles on repeat!!

My friends and I were in La Rioca for boxing and were invited to eat at the restaurant. We were made very welcome (as we have been ever since we arrived in Argentina) and the service that we received was first class. We sat outside in the beautiful terrace and were served the most lovely food.I recommend this restaurant very highly to anyone that visits La Rioca!

Let's not beat about the bush: La Rioja is not a tourist wonderland. People here eat very late (after 10 pm), which can be a bit of a pain when, like us, you've got a night bus to catch. At 9.30 pm, we were the first people here, but we were very warmly welcomed by the owner, who even gave us some tips on where to go next on our trip. The food was a welcome change from Argentina's endless meat-heavy parilladas. We had the mushroom and chicken risotto and the chicken with spinach and lemon. Both were lovely. A deliciously lukewarm slice of apple cake a la mode to finish up, and we were all set for our night bus.
