Find out what South American restaurants to try in Arica. Arica (/əˈriːkə/ ə-REE-kə; Spanish: [aˈɾika]) is a commune and a port city with a population of 196,590 in the Arica Province of northern Chile's Arica y Parinacota Region. It is Chile's northernmost city, being located only 18 km (11 mi) south of the border with Peru. The city is the capital of both the Arica Province and the Arica and Parinacota Region. Arica has a mild, temperate climate with some of the lowest annual rainfall rates anywhere in the world, consequently there are rarely any clouds over Arica. Arica is located at the bend of South America's western coast known as the Arica Bend or Arica Elbow. At the location of the city are two lush valleys that dissect the Atacama Desert converge: Azapa and Lluta. These valleys provide fruit for export.

After walking round and not finding anywhere where anybody seemed interested in serving us we ended up here. First impressions weren't great but we ordered and were pleasantly surprised. I had pizza, which was Ok, not exactly Italian like but edible. Colleagues had some meat dish with fries which they said was OK as well. The fries were very good though. beer from bottles was decent and cost was OK. Only complaint is that I get really annoyed when places put the suggested tip on the bill then put the total with tip at the bottom. Tip is optional and I will give it if and when it is deserved.

I have frequented el Arriero many times over the years. I highly recommend the fish though this is a essentially a meat restaurant. One caution is that the à la carte portions are huge and are pricey. With that said the Mash Potatoes & the Azapa Valley Olive puree are flavours we look forward to...

While looking for a nice place to have lunch, my wife and I stumbled into Akun. Located inside Casa Beltran Hotel Boutique, Akun fit exactly what we were looking for. We were delighted by great food featuring a fusion of Chilean and Peruvian flavors and excellent service to boot.

Lovely restaurant in an unlikely place. Fire on the terrace kept us warm all evening. Great food and excellent service! Even our six year old was happy to eat all his chicharron de pulpo.

We are La Bicicleta café, experts in classic Chilean sandwiches and hamburgers. A different place where quality and good taste is mixed.
A great spot for lunch. Burgers are very good. Fresh ingredients, big size and very tasty. Good value but a larger portion of fries (included with the burger) would make this place perfect. Definitely worth a visit if you like a good burger. Friendly staff and quick service in pleasant surroundings.

It's an understatement to say that the Arica dining scene leaves something to be desired. Good restaurants, with pleasant surroundings at fair prices, are few and far between. After finding downtown Arica to be a bit hectic for our taste, we decided to drive (without a car, it's going to be a fairly expensive taxi ride) to the Aroramar at the beginning of the more peaceful Azapa valley. At first glance, the menu seems a little pricey for Peruvian food, with most dishes around 10,000 pesos. But if you look at the beginning of the menu, you'll see some combination plates for about 23,000 pesos that feed three. Lucky for us, we were a party of 3, and the combination platter was perfect. The beef and seafood dishes were very tasty, well prepared, and artfully presented. The atmosphere was very relaxed, and much more pleasant than in town. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant, or return on my next visit to Arica.

We ate here twice around the holidays. Other restaurants seemed to have long lines outside, but this one was easy to get a table quickly. The service was very attentive and very good. Linen table clothes and napkins add a touch of sophistication. We had the filet mignon and shrimp entrees along with pisco sours. Food was cooked perfectly. One the one occasion the beef was not quite right, they replaced it quickly with a very acceptable one. Pisco sours are very good. This restaurant is a great choice for a nice dinner.
