New York State has it all – booming metropolises, majestic waterfalls, mountains, wine country, chicken wings. Yes, NYC is a magnet for tourists, but an exploration of the rest of the state can be equally thrilling. The Finger Lakes Wine Region is a vision of serene waters, quaint B&Bs, and pretty vineyards. Movie buffs will love Rochester, home of the George Eastman House and one of the world’s most comprehensive film archives. On your way to Niagara Falls, stop in Buffalo to fuel up on spicy wings.

Whiteface may have made its name in winter, it has the highest vertical drop in the east, after all but it does summer pretty well too. The warmer months make Whiteface a natural setting for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels and ages, whether you're looking for an adrenaline rush or just an afternoon of beautiful views with your family. Take a hike along the Stag Brook Falls trail or Bear Den Mountain, play a round of Disc Golf and check out the area's most exhilarating, challenging Mountain Biking terrain. Or gather the family for an afternoon of taking it all in with a Scenic Cloudsplitter Gondola Ride to the summit of Little Whiteface. Drive the Whiteface Veteran's Memorial Highway to the summit, and lean into the Adirondack breeze as you marvel at the world below you. This well-known mountain offers exciting and scenic runs for skiers of all levels: Beginners do well on Easy Acres, which features its own ski school, novices and intermediates enjoy Little Whiteface, while experts head to the heart-pounding summit.
We drove up the veterans highway to the top. Although with Covid the castle and other areas were not open we were able to park and take amazing photos. It was a great drive and the views were spectacular.

The "Valley " is such a wonderful place. Don't compare the vertical, but note the expansive multiple angles and faces of several ridges. This resort is a one stop shop it has it all!.... Parents and young people will appreciate the layout. Plenty of opportunities to visit multiple lodges for refreshments and relaxing near a fireplace. Mid-week visits are fantastic with little mountain traffic. Lifties, safety and patrol are paramount. Plenty of high-speed chair lifts wisk you to the top for great riding. The snow making system is the best ever seen which stretches the season on both ends, and natural snow is dump quality from two great lakes depending upon the wind direction.

With a focus on family fun, this winter recreation area offers skiing, snowboarding and tubing for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages.
My son and I brought his two children tubing who are 6 and 4. We thought that they would be scared but they absolutely loved it! The amusing thing was that my son and I each went down once and decided not to do it again. I am almost 60. He was getting ready to leave for a training and was worried he might get hurt. You go fast!!! The staff were very friendly and helpful. One helpful hint if you as the parent doesn't want to go tubing is to have one adult at the top and one adult on the bottom to help the kids get on and off. They are towed up the hill on their tubes which they thought was the coolest thing.

We took the ride up the mountain on the chair lift to check out the fall colors. The wait time was acceptable being a Saturday, around 40 to 45 minutes. The ticket price was reasonable and the leaf colors were at peak.

Nestled in the northern Adirondack foothills, Titus Mountain is blessed with abundant natural snow & a sheltered, northeast-facing trail network. We operate a total of 10 lifts: Two 3-Passenger Chairlifts, Six 2-Passenger Chairlifts, One Tubing-Tow Surface Lift & our new Magic Carpet. These lifts service a total of 50 features, with something for every ability level . . . 36 trails, 11 glades, 3 terrain parks & 1 Snow Tubing park. We stretch across 3 mountains with over 200 acres open for skiing & snowboarding. Our 2025-ft. summit elevation provides folks with plenty of room to spread out. Our terrain ranges from green to double-black diamond and all levels of expertise will find something to enjoy!
Family owned and operated, the Titus Mountain Family Ski Center has an emphasis on Family all the way around. Whether your family involved the beginner skier, the expert skier, the young, mature or teenage skier, Titas has it. Small and intimate - easily reachable locally near the Canadian border, or from further away by way of several airports. We flew into Montreal and out of Burlington, Vermont. Other options include Plattsburgh, Syracuse and Albany. There are ski in/ski out cabins on the resort property, and a Holliday Inn Express in Malone nearby. Logistics done - let’s talk about the resort. From ski rental folks, to instructors, to bar tenders and lift attendants, everyone was friendly and helpful. The trails are wide and well manicured. The lodge is centrally located, so it’s easy to meet up with your group - or just meet new friends to enhance your group. The equipment is all new and in good working order. As southerners, we were also excited that the altitude was not too night. No adjustment time needed!!! Here are the extras that really make it fun: Maple Syrup is made on the mountain! Enjoy the smell, visit the Sugar Shack and try a warm free sample and DO NOT GO HOME WITHOUT your jug of syrup and cotton candy made from the syrup! Weekend Night Skiing - Friday night is open mic night at the lodge and night skiing on the slopes. This turns out to be an awesome fun happy hour for the parents while the kiddos hit the trails for a “something for everyone” good time. The tubing hill - well, I cannot even describe how fun that is. Just go. Luge - Most Saturday’s have a Luge run set up with free lessons and a race with prizes and bragging rights at the end of the afternoon. The other party facilities - there is an upper lodge perfect for private parties, groups, schools, sororities and fraternities, weddings, family events - whatever. There is usually a big closing weekend celebration with fireworks, but sadly the nationwide shut-down nipped that in the bud this year. That means next year will be bigger than ever. With an experienced skier, an enthusiastic beginner, a college beginner and a nervous ninny, Titus Mountain was perfect for all of us. So fun. Just go.
