I got in touch with Firstax about ski lessons prior to the holiday. After emailing with Luca and taking his advice, we decided, that rather than joining a group session package we’d book one instructor for a two hour session for the 6 days of our holiday. This was slightly more expensive than joining a group but l feel it benefited us more. Our Ski instructor “Andrea,” was extremely patient, knowledgeable and encouraging. We benefited, immensely, from the lessons and by the end of the week, we had become more confidently in our own skiing ability because of “Andreas” expertise. These guys know what they are doing and extremely passionate their business.

The European Ski & Snowboard School is an independent ski school based in the heart of Les Deux Alpes. Well established, its name has become synonymous with a quality service aimed to meet and exceed your expectations. We have a carefully selected team of international ski instructors from Britain, Italy and France who provide a fun and effective way to improve your mountain skills, whether you're a skier or a snowboarder.
My partner had a great two hour private lesson with Craig! It gave him the confidence to hit the snow park again and look at future freestyle courses!

Oz en Oisans offers a small, picturesque ski resort for people looking for somewhere quieter. We stayed in a half board hotel so can't comment on the restaurants but there were a couple of bars for and apres ski beer. If you're looking for lots of night life this isnt the place for you. We stayed in Hotel Les Cristaux which has a great little pool that's also open to the public. The skiing is great. There are a handful of nice easy slopes by the village then two cable cars to take you higher up the mountain. As mentioned elsewhere the runs from the top back down to the village are a little tricky so some might want to get the lift down. You have great access to the whole Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine from the lifts above Vaujany right across to Auris. One word of caution, if the weather is inclement, keep an eye on the lifts. We got stuck over in Alpe d'Huez for a few hours one afternoon when wind shut all the lifts! Well done to the ski staff who did eventually get everyone back. Transfers to Oz can be a bit tricky. We took Bensbus to Rochetaille the a 40euro taxi (taxi d'Oz) up to Oz. There is also a free shuttle bus if its timetable fits with your itinerary.

Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine is impressive and huge. Much more diversified and challenging than the 3 Valleys or Espace Killy. The Sarenne Glacier is totally underrated, it is one of the very few where you can actually spend the whole day above 3,000m without the need to ski down and queue to take a gondola back up: there are 2 chairlifts that give you access to very challenging pistes (groomed and not groomed, your choice!). The view rom Pic Blanc is out of this world

Patient and energetic instructors, my children developed their techniques and confidence on skis. And most importantly they enjoyed it and had fun.

Autrans-Meaudre is a resort village at the same time alpine and Scandinavian, here we practise all the glides! In Alpine skiing, the resort is the ideal place to begin and progress and take advantage of the glide in family. In Scandinavian, it is about one of the best domains in Europe whether it is for the cross-country skiing and the snowshoe with snow. At the end of the day, find our warm town.
