Absolutely phenomenal. It's over a decade since I was last here and top of my to do list this time was to re-do a whale watching trip. Our children were thrilled! We saw LOTS of humpback whales. The trip sets off very early, 5am from the hotel so expect tired kids as by the time you've done the bus trip to the boat, then it's a good hour and a half out to see, then approx 30 mins actually with the whales, then about half hour to the (stunning) island of Samana, then some bites to eat and amazing cocktails straight from fresh coconuts through straws... Then all the way back again it's more a 3/4 if the day trip. Definitely do it though, you don't regret it! The photo taken was one my better half took. That's how close they get - they were leaping about in the water, splashing their tails, the lot ????????

Due to the situation with the Coronavirus, our cruise was suddenly cancelled. I contacted Terry and in less than 48 hours we had a full refund. He was friendly, and very understanding. Even though we did not get to experience a tour with him, based on the business dealings alone, I would attempt to go Samana and take a tour.

From the Punta Cana hotels, we’ll enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Oriental Mountain Range as we drive north of Punta Cana before arriving in the small fishing village of Miches at the southern shores of Samana Bay. There you will enjoy a quick breakfast prior to boarding the boat to Samana. We’ll cruise deep into the bay to whale watch. We will first reach Cayo Levantado, also known as Bacardi Island because of its close resemblance to the beaches Bacardi Rum once used for its famous commercials. Cayo Levantado is nothing short of a tropical oasis – a small island in the middle of the ocean with turquoise waters and white sands.
Inclusions: Whale Watching trip Entrance fees to Observatory, Buffet Lunch on the beach, Boat Tour Guide
Exclusions: gratitues

During our visit to El Limon we met an incredible person, Juan Emilio. Not only he speaks five languages well, is very polite, thoughtful, knowledgeable, he is also a very kind human being. He didn’t push anything, told us lovely stories and fun details along the way. On the way back, Juan Emilio and his beautiful 9 year old daughter ( who ran to meet him on the mountain), picked up all trash along the way (cups, bottles, bags) to keep their natural treasure (El Limon Waterfall) beautiful. True stewards of nature, taking care of their community just from the goodness of their heart, nothing else. Juan Emilio does many great tours and can show you hidden treasures of Samanta region and beyond. Contact me for his WhatsApp contact. Promise you, you won’t be disappointed

Enjoy a 25 min boat ride to Playa Ermitaño, which is a still unexplored and isolated beach with turquoise blue water. Relish fresh coconut water. Discover the real and untouched beauty of the Dominican Republic and immerse yourself into nature, as you explore the secret cave nearby. Stay at Playa Ermitaño as long as you want, and visit Playa Onda, another beautiful wild beach, only a 15 min boat ride away. Return to Playa El Valle and then proceed to Samaná, will see local houses and learn about the Dominican real life.
