Flamingos and pelicans and herons…oh my! Holbox Island is beloved by bird nerds for its population of exotic avian life. Perched near the Yucatan Peninsula, the island is also a hot spot for whale shark viewing, and kiteboarders love the shallow waters and wide beaches. The white sand streets are relatively unspoiled, as most tourists prefer to party it up in nearby Cancun. A splash in Yalahao Lagoon is about as loco as it gets.

Holbox Island is a real gem of nature and the ideal destination for those looking for a relaxing place to clear their mind and stay in touch with nature. The Island is located in the northern region of the peninsula of Yucatan surrounded by the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico offering an unequaled beauty while giving the visitors the feeling that time has stopped, since there aren’t any cars or highways on the island. A pleasant boat ride through the small Islands that surround Holbox where you can watch several types of birds: white and gray pelicans, frigate birds, seagulls and, depending on the season, even pink flamingos. During the boat trip you might also see dolphins and stingrays.

Salvatore was very knowledgeable and gave us a great day! He was flexible in the order we did things, suggested Tulum first before it got too hot, then lunch, Coba and then a Cenote. For us this was perfect! We all (2 couples) felt like we learned something and got some great insights to the Mayan culture and lively conversation during the drives. Absolutely recommend this tour!

Paulina is everything you'd want in a tour guide - friendly, great personality, knowledgeable about Mexican history and life of the locals. She speaks English, Spanish, and Polish and it's obvious that she is highly educated. No one else had booked the tour we were on (likely due to the reduced number of tourists overall due to covid) so we had a private tour which was absolutely perfect! I can't speak for tours with larger groups and how much time you get at each stopping point (there is a lot to cover) so I am very happy that we got the private tour which I highly recommend. Thank you, Paulina!

Long waiting time after pick up (7:20am) and check in in a souvenir shop. We sat another 30 minutes in the van. The driver Jorge was not able to give us a plausible explanation of the further delay. Tour only started at 9am. Tour company says to operate with 80% capacity. In a van of 12 seats, it's simply one seat empty, and this one was taken by a second guide, Oscar. After 30 minutes drive, the main guide, Edmundo explained the tour program. Neither he nor the driver wore their masks properly from the start. The other guide just had a ridiculous pirate cloth as a protection. I kindly asked them to wear their masks properly. But instead of apologizing and do so, I got a highly aggressive and inappropriate answer from Edmundo. And basically, the guides and the driver did not care at all to have their masks properly on or respect any appropriate Covid measurements. At one point, one of the participants in the back of the van felt sick, so the small window was opened and also to have some fresh air to ventilate the van a bit. The driver even stopped the van to tell this person off, as he wanted to have the ac on, which is ridiculous in a pandemic. We were never given some disinfectant during the tour. The restaurant we were taken to for lunch was awful. There was no distance between the tables and chairs. And you can imagine, the restaurant was packed with other groups. No adaption of any Covid measurements. Most of the time, you sit in a dirty van on this tour. We were told, the tour would last about 6 hours. Well, we were on tour for 11,5 hours from pick up to getting back to the hotel. I would not recommend this tour company, as they put deliberately their participants' health at risk. The handle the whole pandemic in a careless way. Basically they don't care at all. Their certification of the WTTC safe travel label is simply a joke. AVOID TO BOOK ANY TOURS AT ANY COSTS!!! I was also told that the tour would be charged in USD. Well, they charged my credit card in MXN which resulted to a higher rate and the tour got more expensive per person. This tour company is simply unprofessional in any sense.

This tour is worth every penny. Jorge was the most amazing guide. He made sure we were always having fun and comfortable in each section of the tour. At one point when we were snorkeling he noticed a member of our group struggling to swim so he pulled her all the way through the wavey waters with a life saver. Still making sure we were all doing okay ourselves and making sure we were all able to see the turtles, sting rays and fish which were all over the place. I know Jorge had to be so tired by the end of that part because a lot of us were and he had to pull another persons weight almost the entire time. The very last section of the tour was my favorite. I would do this entire tour again but definitely because of the last part. The caves blew my might at how cool is was. Then we got fed this delicious meal at the very end. It really was a perfect day. Book this tour. It is worth it.

The Rio Lagartos Reserve is a natural place that is home to many types of flora and fauna, including birds, American flamingos and crocodiles, as well as being one of the most important natural reserves in Mexico. Within the reserve there are some pink lagoons in a dream, the color is caused by the reproduction of the Artemia Salina, this microorganism is responsible for feeding the American Flamingos that nest and reproduce in the reserve. Our guides specialized in birds will explain everything about the flora and fauna that inhabit the place, without a doubt an experience that you should not miss.

This is a fantastic agency organizing amazing tours to see the luminescence and mangroves in an ecoway (canoe and swimming). The guides are great particularly Ivan that is very knowledgeable on the mangrove environment and will go out of his way to show you its treasure. Don't miss your opportunity to see the endangered and prehistoric Atlantic horseshoe crab (or at least its shells) that is threatened now by the disapearance of the mangroves due to touristic/urban development but mostly because they are used as bait for octopus fishing. So if you can do one small action to protect it, is to ban octopus from your menu while in Mexico. Carlos the manager will go all his way to accomodate your need and prepare your trip well in advance. You shouldn't miss it.

Snorkel gear is included along with a light breakfast, lunch, beverages, and ceviche.

The boat ride is very long 2 hours each way and it's bumpy (very bumpy) we took Dramamine but our bodies were so sore the next day we could barely walk. We went in August 17th and instead of the usual 200 boats it was about 20. I was so happy to see the whale sharks are protected and there is a police boat watching that the people follow rules. Please do not use regular spf since it hams the animal please use biodegradable spf and if possible put it on after you swim with the whale shark. We got to see this animal in a bottling position and that was amazing and we'll never forget it. I highly recommend this. Joe and Yvonne Chicago
