We live here on Terceira temporarily with the US military so we’ve seen a lot of the island on our own. But it was on of our guys last weekends and one guy hadn’t been here very long. This trip was absolutely everything we could have asked for. The island is beautiful and the food and wine and moonshine was delicious!! Our tour guide was so funny and made the tour! Highly recommend even if you live here it was nice to be able to drink and not worry about driving.

The best way hands down to learn about this amazing island is to book the full day tour with Antonio. He is so knowledgeable and professional. It only took until lunch time, to realize that we wanted to extend our time with him, so we scheduled 2 more days of tours that he customized listening to our interests. Bonuses: photography tips that he shares along the way, his fantastic stories, the company van is comfortable and luxurious, lunch at local places, many recommendations. We feel like we made a true friend on the island. I highly recommend any tour with Antonio.

If you are in Terceira and like a bit of adventure and enjoy off the beaten track activities I highly recommend you to do this tour with Juca. Juca is very knowledgable of the hidden gems on the island and passionate about his work. Also, he makes sure you are safe while visiting the caves. Last but not least, he is passionate about photography and thus, he will take take some really nice shots of you. This was one of the best tours have done so far!

Unique Tour, this tour is perfect for people for you that love to be in the nature, adventurers and explorers ! As is a Private Tour, you will decide the time to end the tour. Terceira Island, as volcanic origin presenting their morphological diversity, but maintaining some common geological traits. Its origin is associated with several volcanic eruptions, that occurred in the Alpine Orogeny; that remounts to the Tertiary Age to the present days, leaving an outstanding speleological heritage. So, we wish to share these several beautiful caves not open to the public (no man hand). The only 2 places that are open to public is Volcano Algar do Carvão and Christmas Cave. This places are only open in winter on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. In summer every day is open. They are also closed on expecial occasions as Christmas days or special date.

This was our first time going to Terceira and Juca was recommended to us by a co-worker who had been two weeks prior. They spoke very highly of him. We spent three days with him on a private tour and it was everything we could imagine and more. Juca picked us up each day at our hotel and dropped us off at the end of the day. He took us to see things you will not go to on a bus tour. Juca knows this island inside out. He shared with us history and traditional foods and took us to some amazing local restaurants. You know by the way he is recieved and that you are recieved by the locals that he is well respected and they make you feel as though they have known you for years. You tell him what you are looking for as well as the pace you would like to take and he will make it happen. If you want amazing experiences and amazing views and pictures Juca will not disappoint. If we return to Terceira again we will definitely be contacting Juca. 10/10 and then some.

Private and You decide what time to end the tour! According to the defined history the Portuguese were the first to discover the Azores. It was discovered in the year 1427, a total of 591 years a go. What you will see on this tour are much older structures with more of 1000 years located in several points of the Island that do not belong to the Portuguese. These structures belong to civilizations Megalithic e Phoenicians. This last one was discovered by us and explored by one team from the National Geographic. On this tour you will visit Algar do Carvão which is classified as a Natural Monument, the Christmas cave, the smoke holes (furnas do enxofre), the haunted forest and also a hidden cave not marked on the tourists guides, (this one is an option due to not being very easy access).

I've ever been on... it was very informative and an overall fun experience... literally a 9-6 tour - so we were exhausted at the end... but the tour guide (Mara) was fabulous and it never felt long - time just flew... we went all around the island seeing the major sites... we had an traditional azorian meal at a little restaurant along the way that overlooks the sea where "alcatra" was served followed by the "dona amelia cake"... but for me the highlight was going down in a 3200 year old volcano - Algar do Carvão... *spectacular* and something I will never forget...

My parents and I spent a marvelous day in February 2020 touring Terceira Island with one of the most informative, outgoing and welcoming tour guide I have ever encountered VitorAguiar([email protected]). He provide an extensive tour around the island and ensured that all the locations we visited and activities did were geared to our needs. The tour started when he picked us up at our hotel and ended in the evening when he dropped us off at the hotel. Duuring the tour he went above and beyond our expectations. He even brought us to his house where he and his wife introduced us to the local porto wine. After we expressed an interest in buying some wine he drove us to a supermarket where we stocked up on some wonderful wine at an inexpensive price. To this day my father enjoy Portuguese wine with his meals . Vitor's private tour around the island was a really enjoyable welcome to Terciera. It is definitely value for the price.
