In the middle of the XII century, when the Vladimir-Suzdal Principality was ruled by the son of Yuri Dolgoruky Andrey Bogolyubsky, the Golden gate served as the main entrance, was a defensive structure and a triumphal arch. Covered with sheets of gilded copper, shining brightly in the sun, the gates amazed the imagination of contemporaries. In those days the city was surrounded by an extended shaft with five travel gates. The Golden gate is the only one that has survived to the present day. They were built in 1164 by princely masters in the technique of half-foot masonry, widely spread in Vladimir-Suzdal architecture. An archway offset by a strong semicircular arch. The building is built in strict proportions, a special grandeur it gives a small elegant gate Rizpolozhenskaya Church. In the exhibition you can see samples of small arms, created in the XX century by the legendary designers-gunsmiths Kovrov — Vasily Degtyarev, Sergei Simonov, Georgy Shpagin and others.
