The Springfield Cardinals AA Minor League team playing at Hammond's Field is a fantastic place to have fun while watching a baseball game. Lots of entertainment between innings to keep children interested and having fun. Food vendors have a variety of offerings to please most anyone. The parking is convenient and access is good. We participated in a special ticket promotion last season and was able to get all Friday night games that had fireworks displays after the game. Wow, this was entertaining for the grandkids! If you are a baseball fan, you get to see a quality product, often consisting of some major leaguers who are rehabilitating and others who will get called up to the St. Louis or Memphis teams before the season is over. Being a fan, it is great to see the future major leaguers.

I've been to Springfield many times, but I didn't know about this cemetery until this visit. As with any national cemetery it is very overwhelming. Enemies lie together with both confederate and union soldiers, as well as those from more recent time resting together. Wreaths had been placed at most of the gravesites. It was an impressive experience.

We attended this farm in October for the Harvest Fest fall festival. There were lots of activities for the kids (and adults as well!), including: Hayrides, haunted trail, corn maze, grain train, cow train, pony/horse rides, crafts, inflatables, playground, pumpkin patch, lots of animals, good food, and a few carnival style games. Ticket pricing was reasonable, for better value, choose the wristband for unlimited tickets to all activities, excluding pony/horse rides, haunted trail and pumpkins (which were purchased by weight). Admission is free, and so is parking (and there's plenty of it). We also found this farm hosts other family events throughout the year. Overall this is a very nice place, we will definitely return for the Harvest Fest again next year.

History Museum on the Square is located right on historic Route 66 in Springfield, MO. Our six permanent galleries tell the stories of significant events in Springfield and create distinct and intentional dialogues about objects, individuals, and history– dialogues that foster examinations of unique aspects of Springfield, Greene County and its people. A rich and vast collection of artifacts, photographs, and stories of the crossroads are combined using innovative technologies. Take a ride in our Trolley Time Machine, see if you are as good a shot as Wild Bill Hickok in a recreation of the first Wild West Shootout, explore what Springfield was like during the Civil War, and travel down the Mother Road to the place where Route 66 got its name. Walking tours of Springfield, special programs and events are offered throughout the year and can be found on our website. Voted #1 Best New Attraction by the readers of USA TODAY.
This museum offers a great historical experience. It covers information about the settlement of Native Americans from the Trail of Tears, Route 66 memorabilia, Civil War stories and much about the Wild West. It's exhibits were excellent and interactive.

Springfield's most enchanting events venue offering history tours, ghost tours, murder mysteries, holiday events, private rentals. Must attend a scheduled event to visit the castle. Go to the website for schedule and to make reservations or click Book Now on this site. Please note, general hours of operation on this site are incorrect. Trip Advisor format is unable to show event start times other than through Viator Book Now button. We are trying to work with them to correct this issue. Since it requires a system change on their part, it will take a while. Please check the website, come to a scheduled event, pay the entrance fee; otherwise, you will not be able to visit the castle. Fee varies depending on the event. Discount for on-line reservations. Higher if paid at the time of arrival.
My 7 yr old granddaughter and I love touring houses, so I was super-excited to take her to see a real castle! What an interesting history the place has had, from its origin as a home for children of deceased Knights of Pythia and retirement home for its members, to being used as a POW prison and military barracks in WWII. The history tour includes the main floor lobby and dining room, the girls dormitory room, most all of the basement, the movie theater/wedding venue, the Queen’s room where the bridal party dresses and the Tower room! We walked all over the place! We were told the night time ghost tour goes into the boy’s dormitory, through the tunnel into the separate laundry building, and other areas not seen in this tour. I highly recommend it! Took an hour to tour!
