Recently on a trip to the Snowy Mountains area, we visited the Snow Gums Boardwalk lookout at Charlotte Pass. Parking is available. The boardwalk takes you along to two viewing areas, one a short stroll from the carpark, and the other up quite a few steps to the spectacular lookout overlooking the snow gums and Charlotte Pass area and mountains beyond. This lookout is certainly worth a visit.

What a magical hidden gem with such great history. Just a small walk around the ruins and it is well worth it to see the ruins. We went there twice and near the far end at the cottage ruins we could not see a falls flowing the first time but when we went back after heavy rain it was like a different place! A must do and you can walk here from the town of Adelong, it takes about 2 km one way. “Jonique Life” Follow our journey around Australia on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube as we highlight wonderful experiences and magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.

Eucumbene Trout Farm has a Cafe, Farm Tours and Fishing Experiences. The farm is a working trout farm also with Highland cattle and Alpacas. They have a privately stocked Stony lake for fishing with fly rod or rod to fish for your trout. Should you not be successful then you are welcome to advance your luck in the sure catch pond. All rods, reels, landing nets and bait/flies are supplied.Guided tours of the farm are available at 10am and 2pm, or other times by arrangement. This touching memorial to the local area fallen is just off the main street and is well worth a visit when going through the town. There is a very nicely presented bronze sculpture depicting a WW1 battlefield.

Located 1,000m above sea level, Scammells lookout provides stunning views of Western Falls Wilderness and Main Range. Facilities include picnic tables and amenities block. Great opportunity for birdwatching and photography.
Great rest stop to stretch legs along Alpine Way drive (or ride). Toilets, shelter and great views on a clear day. Stopped here on bike ride from Jindabyne, nice and peaceful amongst snow gums

A cute little town on the Snowy River, with platypus right there in town! We really enjoyed the river walk, and the historic bridge and buildings dotted around town. A lovely spot to stop when in the area.

Travel south/west from Cooma on highway for a few minutes. Turn left at big wagon that leads up to Miss Heidis Austrian teahouse and restaurent....A bavarian log cabin type with log fire that feels like something out of a Hanzel and Gretel story. Go past Miss Heidis and you are at the top with a 10 metre walk to lookout and viewing platform. There is a brass compass showing locations and distances on a rock plinth. Toilets and a walking track round Mount Gladstone with another lookout. Great to break your trip on way to the snow or coming back stop for Gluwein, krantsky, crepes, pancakes, goulash, sauerkraut, cheescakes, coffee, wine and more. Feels like Austria but with an Australian view.
