The historic center of Sibiu is still partially enclosed by its original 12th-century medieval walls. Begin your visit in the Piata Mare, home to the Brukenthal Palace, containing the main halls of the Brukenthal National Museum. Descend the Passage of the Stairs down into lower Sibiu, and make sure to be on your best behavior as you cross the Bridge of Lies. A trek in the nearby Făgăraș Mountains will lead you past breathtaking ridges and serene glacial lakes.

Well worth the climb to the top for the views. And the late 1400's clock mechanism on the 6th floor was interesting.

The cathedral was built in 1520 on the building of a 12th century Romanesque church. In the foreground stands the statue of George Daniel Tautz, Bishop of Sibiu from 1899. The cathedral is Gothic-style and has five towers, the highest of which is 73 meters high and is seen from almost everywhere in the city The eastern wall of the church is covered with a huge painting (more than 9 meters high), painted by the painter "Rosano" in 1445, showing the crucifixion of Jesus. The largest organ in all of Southeastern Europe, located in the Baroque style dating from 1671, has six thousand pipes and in the summer months of June-September, there are concerts for organ organisms on Wednesdays.

This is the second largest Orthodox Cathedral in Romania.
This is quite an impressive building from outside with its red and yellow striped brick work - very Byzantine in appearance. It was apparently modelled on the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul and is the seat of the Romania Orthodox Archbishop of Sibiu. Although the outside is quite magnificent in its own way - the inside is fabulous - ornately decorated and painted with a great altar. This is the umber one attraction in Sibiu, in my opinion.

Nice, wide pedestrian street with lots of cafes and restaurants. If you need an exchange office, you can find few of them here. It looks gorgeous in the summer night. Very lively and pleasant, and a bit romantic.

Another iconic place in Sibiu is the "Piata Mica" or Small square if you like. It is right next to the Big square and you can walk here from right under the townconcil tower (tell you about it in another review). As its name is stating is kind of small - but it is actually not that small but since there are a lot of parking spots around it - yes you can come with the car and park in the small square - not free so don't forget to pay your parking ticket. To mention a few points of interest: - the ASTRA museum - Bridge of Lies - Town Council Tower. - easy access to the Huet square - restaurants and cafes So for sure it is definitely worth it to include this place in your tour of Sibiu city - would be nice for you to take a guided tour of the place so you get the most out of your visit. Also check out the pastries, restaurants and cafes in the square - so you have everything needed at your convenience. Overall is one of the landmarks to hat you meed to visit when in Sibiu - enjoy!
