Top 10 Sights & Landmarks in Mykonos, South Aegean

August 10, 2021 Jacquiline Delozier

If the mention of Mykonos doesn’t immediately bring to mind bright white buildings, turquoise skies and tanned bodies lining golden sandy beaches, you’ve been living under a rock. The most popular Greek Island in the Aegean Sea is all about energy and attracts a diverse and upscale crowd that thrives on its stylish nightlife. During the day some privacy can be had in the more secluded north beaches, but the south beaches are all party. Ski, jet-ski, windsurf, horseback ride, parasail or just save up your energy for the evening ahead, like most of your fellow travelers in Mykonos.

If you go to Mykonos, please make sure to visit this church. It is just such a stunning and a not to be missed site. This is the oldest church in Mykonos which dates back to the late 14th century. It consists in 5 churches in one. They were not all built at once but rather added as time passed by throughout the centuries.

A must do while in Mykonos! Sunset time is the best time to visit Little Venice, preferably latest by 7.30pm to have an hour to watch the full sunset while enjoying a refreshing cocktail at one of the cafes situated on the shore of this location. Best enjoyed in a romantic mood with your loved one, or a flirt, easily found in Mykonos ;))

The streets are very narrow with lots of shops and colourful ceramic displays. There are also places to stay in this area and lots of places to take very picturesque photographs. It’s always very busy in this area, but that’s all part of the attraction.

Mykonos Vioma Organic Farm

Mykonos Vioma Organic Farm is a historic & biodynamic vineyard offering a rural setting which escapes the stereotypes one may have of Mykonos. It will allow you to get lost in time and the landscape's serenity while listening to classical music and sipping our quality organic wines. A families and kids friendly experience, ideal for all types of travellers, who feel like discovering the culinary tradition of Mykonos and indulging in a local WINE TOUR. During your wine and local products tasting experience, you will be rewarded by the freshness of materials and simplicity but excellence of tastes. Our farm's animals will give you the warmest welcome and it will be difficult resisting the fun of hand feeding our donkey, Marika, our goats and sheep, or giving a belly rub to our friendly dogs. The tours of the vineyard and the tzatziki cooking demonstration are free of charge. Contact us for tours' schedule and availability. We are open April till mid November.

Found this place when looking for somewhere to go other than the beach etc. It is located in a slightly more rural area of Mykonos, not accessible by public transport so we took a taxi, which is expensive in Mykonos, but its fine if you hire a car or quad bike etc. It's a gorgeous little organic farm in "real" Mykonos - no glitz, no glamour. We had a lovely few hours here, learned how to make proper authentic tzatziki, there's a super-friendly adorable cat who went round greeting everyone, had a selection of delicious local food including things grown on the farm, and of course sampled the wine which is made here. After lunch we had a tour of the farm and vineyard which was informative and very pleasant - the guide was knowledgeable, engaging and passionate about what they do. After the tour you can get to know the farm animals, including the sweetest and friendliest sheep I have ever met. I recommend a visit to this place.

Beautiful stained glass detailings and marble carvings at the entrance give this place a unique aura. Add to it the fact that my tour guide told me there's only ONE surviving monk in the monastery now, as compared to several hundred till a few decades ago. A very small entry fees of 1 euro per person
