Koperattiva Rurali Manikata has developed a Rural Heritage Trail along the fields of its farmer members, in the peaceful, picturesque area of Manikata. Along the trail visitors can walk through fields and learn about agriculture, local trees and flora and visit the historical and archaeological remains found in the area. These include a World War II pillbox, a small Roman tomb and a medieval village which is being restored by the cooperative. Food tasting of typical local products and fresh fruit are also served in our picnic areas. Only group visits of 10 or more persons are accepted and pre booking is necessary.

An experience not to be missed. Very informative and interesting visit. Can’t begin to imagine what life was like in there and the thought of digging out your own room (if you had a permit) is rather scary.

Very beautiful and if you go across the road at the back of this church there is a play area for children, head towards this as there is a lovely little bar at the back with amazing views and a great cuppa.

This place is temporarily closed.
The tower is closed until further notice but views from the location are really good particularly if you are up for a 2-3 hour circular walk. Involves one short steep climb. For the (clockwise) walk start out along the broadly level minor road that goes "inland" above the scruffy bungalows at the bottom of the hill below the tower. Emerge beyond the bungalows; pass a farmyard area; then when the road forks head right up hill. Where it levels out good views. Follow the road round to the right with planted fields either side. After some 200m watch for a concrete track/right turn. Take it. Ascend some (very) steep stone steps to reach the top of the ridge. Seat nearby for more lovely 360' views. Option here to walk left along minor road out and back to end of headland. Otherwise turn right and walk along minor road to the Red Tower. For the route down walk beyond the tower, ignore two tracks off to right and continue as road starts to descend. Watch for access to path and steps on right which zig-zag down the hill to emerge onto the road at the end of Mellieha bay within a few yards of your start point.

Me and my mum had a walk up to Mellieha to visit the underground church of the Lady of the Grotto. We had seen the gate to it a few times but didn't venture down as we did not think we were allowed. When our transfer was bringing us to our hotel this time she advised visitors can down for a visit. There is a steep flight of stairs, which are beautiful and then you go into the underground church. It is a lovely little church, very well maintained. We love history so this was a great attraction for us.

Beautiful place. You can’t go into the actual tower but the scenery is spectacular and the sunset was lovely. It is just a short walk from the surrounding beaches and bus stops so worth doing as the end to a day at the beach.

Popeyes village is a must I never laughed so much as olive owl, Popeyes & Brutus put on a little show, you can stay the day if you want too as they have a pool for the kids to splash about in & loungers for the adults , there is a cinema with free popcorn tells you about the beginning of Popeyes village when they made the film with Robin Williams, a photography shop you can have photos done one free, & the higgledy piggledy houses are great.
