Hot our cold, wet or dry outside, the weather below is always the same. We had a GPS in our car, so it was not at all difficult to find. On a very wet and cold December day, we only needed a light sweater below. Our tour guide was new on the job, but you couldn't tell - she knew everything there was to know and explained all wonderfully. You'd better not be clostrophobic for the first part of the journey. The only way down, and up, is a 4-man cage lowered by rope/pulley system, but you get a fantastic view of the strata that makes up this region during the trip as you are only inches from the shaft wall. You get to see the office that was used before computers along with maps of the entire mine. You'll see many of the tunnels, and the old machinery (that is disassembled above, taken below and reassembled) & watch the production of the rock salt. It is a working mine, and there were men down there at work, moving trucks full of salt to the processing machines. I was going to post some photos, but there is no option for upload!

Beautiful, tiny, stunning church. We missed this church on many visits but when we got there I was lost for words.

This is a council run garden. Through it's eccentricity you have the delights of a fabulous view with mature shrubs and trees. Take a picnic - you won't be sorry
