Visiting here was a very moving experience. All the white headstones are lined up in orderly rows, magnificent. This is NOT to be confused with Woodlawn cemetery where Mark Twain is buried despite other reviews saying so. This is a National veterans cemetery right next to the other one. There are over 2,500 confederate soldiers buried here among the 10,000 + graves. They were victims of poor conditions and over crowding at the Elmira Prison during the civil war. The cemetery is excellently maintained.

This is a great space to showcase local and regional talent in a well laid out space. The prices are extremely reasonable as well, especially for one-of-a-kind items.

Visited on a random Monday - Gary took us around and was very informative on the syrup production process. He also allowed us to try a bunch of samples. I wound up buying several of his maple products (syrup, bbq sauce, and mustard) because they were so delicious. Also is a COVID-safe activity (tour is outdoors).

This place was a little out of the way, but very nice. Smelled great inside. Had some homemade apple cider doughnuts and apple cider. Bought a peck of apples too. Apple cider was very tasty.

Beautiful square. Tables and chairs, benches, nicely landscaped, a stage for weekly concerts in the summer, along Market Street for easy access to shops and restaurants, ice cream shop next door, historic clock tower from the early 1800's, adjacent to parking garage and pedestrian walkway over the river to the Corning Glass Museum. Perfect place to relax in the middle of town.

This farm offers sanctuary and a home for abused farm animals, and helps to educate Americans about treating animals with respect and compassion.
Our guide was a guy that had only been there a few months he said, but he was awesome. We loved meeting all the animals and hearing of their journeys. I am hoping this trip may be the push my boyfriend needed to become vegan. So peaceful and such a happy place.....truly happy animals here! I only wish they had a small vegan cafe to show people how tasty vegan food can be.

Seneca Lake is known for its diverse offering of world-class wines. Our wineries are dedicated to increasing quality and serving as exceptional stewards of the land and lake. Seneca Lake Wine Trail members pledge to exceed your expectations when you visit to taste wine and experience the Finger Lakes. You don’t have to travel to far-away places to experience fantastic wines. They are right here on Seneca Lake!
You have two options for this excursion. Wing it and stop at wineries at random or look up what they have to offer and plan your trip. We stopped at 6 wineries and bought at all but one so random worked for us. There are so many choices it’s mind boggling! We started at the wine center in Watkins Glen and got a handy map which was definitely worth it. Many of the locations now offer predetermined flights rather than tastings. If you are trying to get in several wineries this can be a lot of wine to drink. At some locations they allowed us to split a flight which we appreciated since we drove ourselves. The drive has great views of the lake. Very pleasant and we will go again.

Experience a taste of life on a 19th-century estate when you visit this National Historic Landmark. Once a working farm, the house and surrounding grounds are open seasonally for guided tours. Built in 1839, the elegant Greek Revival house was the center of a busy and productive farm by mid-century. The tour focuses on the Swan family, in residence from 1850 to 1890. Through family letters, photographs, and diaries, explore the family's joys and sorrows and their interactions with neighbors and the many workers required to keep the large house and farm in working order. See twenty rooms restored and furnished in the Empire style, popular from the 1820s to 1850s. Enjoy the magnificent view of Seneca Lake from the front porch and the vista of nearby farmlands. Rose Hill Mansion Gift Shop features a selection of locally produced food products, historically themed gifts and hand crafted items. Open May 1 to October 31. Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm; Sunday, 12-4pm. Closed Mondays and July 4.
