Welcome home! Our industrial creative space hosts a funky cafe, on-site artist studios, and regular creative events. Exchange is one of many projects born out of the earthquakes that still reveals an emerging creative side of the city. Artists need places to connect with each other & the public in an easy, unintimidating way. So we make, perform, experiment, and showcase in the open here. Our once-abandoned Old Pickle Factory/heritage building is now a hotspot for locals and visitors; spend a day relaxing in the cafe, get some work done, bring some art/craft supplies, watch artists in their studios, or buy a 1-of-a-kind souvenir to take home. Visit, grab a coffee, and ask for Preston, he'll show you around this hidden gem and tell you a story; why Christchurch is 1 of the most exciting cities in the world to be in! • 20+ practicing artists from a wide range of creative practices • Creative events almost every night. • 2 apartments above our venue/cafe that you can stay in!
This is an amazing place where food and coffee are amazing and you can appreciate residents artist work or you can bring your art supplies and make some art right there! so inspiring! :)

Banks Peninsula near Christchurch, New Zealand is a must see for its stunning views, beautiful bays and quirky campgrounds. Little River is the gateway to the peninsula. The township has a hotel/pub, 2 cafes, a petrol station, art gallery, craft store and small museum. There are B&Bs, plus the Little River Campground in Okuti Valley Road. They have affordable campervan parks with power, cabins and tentsites set beside a river. The southern bays have some of the best surf, if you know the secret spots as well as good, safe swimming beaches, walking tracks and the Little River Rail Trail. It is a a place that is often over looked as tourists head to Akaroa. If you want to experience more than the usual, to get off the beaten track and really explore, ask at the craft station, which has an info centre.
Beautiful drive between Akaroa and Christchurch with many different points of beauty and interest to see along the way. Worth taking the time to traverse the highway running through it.

About - Founded in 1850 as part of the Anglican foundation for Christchurch, Christ’s College is an independent boys’ boarding and day school. Christchurch post-earthquakes is a changed landscape, and heritage buildings such as those seen at College are rare. Here is your opportunity to visit our unique campus with its outstanding collection of heritage buildings, located in the heart of the central city framed by the River Avon, and bordering Hagley Park and the Botanic Gardens. Our guides all have a personal link with the school. As either past students, staff or parents, their knowledge of and passion for Christ’s College shows. They would love the opportunity to share this with you. Guided tours of our campus and heritage buildings take place on weekdays at 10am and take approximately 80 minutes. Appreciate the architectural highlights of our campus, such as Big School built in 1863 which is the oldest educational building still in use in New Zealand, the Memorial Dining Hall (1925), the Chapel and more. Don’t leave Christchurch without visiting College.
They do offer guided tours of the grounds and the inside some of the buildings, but after inquiring at reception, I opted to wander around on my own outside. I really loved the architecture of the buildings. This is very walkable from downtown, and the museum, botanical gardens and arts centre are all close by.

We did a loop walk from Taylor’s Mistake car park around the coast up to the gun emplacements and continued around to circle back down to the beach. Amazing views up and down the coast and along to Lyttelton harbour around the other side of the heads. Looks more daunting than it is - gradual climb on well formed track, not too strenuous. Took us about 2.5hrs at average pace with a few photo and drink stops along the way. Definitely worth checking out.

Always check the website for changes that might affect your trip.
It was hot, but what a lovely walk. The road to thd carpark is narrow so tske your time. Once there, it is easy to follow the well signposted track which winds up and down around the headland to Godley Heads. We saw seals, swimmers divers, boaties. Its not too strenuous and the track is a good walking surface and quite wide.

Mona Vale is an old, established garden running alongside the river. Lots of interesting plants and corners to explore including a rose garden and a water-lily pond. There were ducklings when we last visited and it was fascinating watching the mama duck herding her 7 little ones as they dived around the water lilies. You don't need to join a tour; nice to just wander at leisure. There is a restaurant there, but looked very formal, so we didn't get anything there. Would have been nice to have somewhere to get an icecream or a smoothie as it was a warm day.

I’m lucky enough to live 15mins away from the Port Hills. I’m a runner and being up here as the sun rises or sets is something rather amazing. Definitely get up here if you can, the walking tracks are well maintained and the views are spectacular

Riccarton House & Bush is a unique New Zealand heritage site consisting of two historic buildings, flanked by beautiful open parkland and ornate gardens, bordered by the River Avon and set against extensive native bush forest featuring Kahikatea trees up to 600 years old. This tranquil 12 hectare reserve is located just 3.5 Km from Christchurch city centre. The protected bush area has free entry and the house has a wonderful cafe. Heritage Tours run 6 days per week.
Veronica our guide showed a small group of us through the house. A very informative tour with lors of stories of the family that lived here. Well done Riccarton House.
