The End End Gallery, within the historic Forbes Building on Vincent Street, has the primary focus on supporting and promoting Wheatbelt artists. Open since December 2014, the Gallery and Giftshop now encompass 150 square metres and display space. We pride ourselves on being innovative in our presentation and offering our guests an educative and entertaining visit. Attached to the Gallery is Michael's workshop which features his impressive collection of found metal objects and is also his creative space. Using artifacts from the early ming, pastoral and agricultural industries, Michael weaves the stories of the men, women and children who lived and worked in these settings. As our artists have grown in number, we have also become keepers of their stories. As we approach one hundred artists within our Artists Precinct, we look forward to welcoming new guests and old friends. Warm regards, Kate and Michael.

Explore the intriguing story of country policing from the days of the first convicts. From the lofty grandeur of the court room to the stark confines of the prison cells, the York Courthouse Complex tells the intriguing story of country policing from the days of the first convicts to the late twentieth century.

We went up to the lookout during the day and the panoramic view of York, Avon Valley, Mount Bakewell and the surrounds was just beautiful. Worth a visit.

Husband and I stayed one night in the Guesthouse during our recent wildflower escapade. We did the 2 hour town tour with Gary, our guide. He is very passionate about preservation of the place and knows the history very well presenting it in an informal manner. He even gave us a piano recital. The town oozes serenity and hopefully it will get restored to its former glory. It is the only Monastic town in Western Australia and deserves to be looked after Our accommodation in the Guesthouse was basic, clean and in very pleasant surroundings. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. We attended the nightly vespers and had dinner in the dining room which was soup for entree and rissoles and salad for mains. The bread was baked at the New Norcia Bakery known for beautiful bread and it didn’t disappoint. There was plenty of food so nobody went hungry. It was nice just to walk around the grounds and feel the peace. The church bells weren’t working when we were there and we hope they will be repaired soon as it will add to the feel of the place to hear them

The Old York Hospital is a two storey, now privately owned building. It is in Brook Street and next door to the former Edith Cowan Maternity Wing and the same street as The Residency. A street full of history. It is a short walk from the Main Street, across the bridge over the Avon River.

A great walk along the Avon river, this bridge is fun to go along. A classic York moment each time I visit.
