Discover a Jacobean house with a Medieval hall and lose yourself in the incredibly beautiful gardens and ancient parkland. Fabulous events and workshop programme throughout the year. Gardens open Tuesday to Sunday: 1st March- 31st October 1pm-6pm. Visit website for House and visitor Tearoom opening times.
My daughter and I spent a such lovely afternoon enjoying the gardens, and then taking the circular walk around the estate. The staff we met were really friendly and so helpful, and the homemade cake delicious! Loved wandering around the different areas of the garden, with my favorite, admittedly, being the huge kitchen garden. Being able to then buy a bag of their Russet apples to bring away was an unexpected bonus! Thoroughly recommend a visit to this oasis of calm in a mad world.

Run by enthiusiastic volunteers for the local council, this Mill is fully working and if you ar lucky and the wind is right you can watch corn being ground into flour and even buy the flour. This is of the wholemeal stoneground variety and I am told makes great Christmas cake. Runs entirely by unpaid volunteers you can even join the "Friends" who raise most of the money to keep the Mill working. A local hidden gem.

St Nicholas Church, Pluckley is a beautiful church outside as well as inside and well worth a visit. Although the oldest part of the church is its 13th century tower and the western part of the north wall of the nave, a church was recorded as being on this site in 1090. Of special interest inside is the Dering Family Chapel (a time capsule of history in itself when you read the memorials). Of special interest outside is the Dering Family Vault, the Commonwealth War Grave of Private Edward Lewis Pile of the Northumberland Fusiliers who died on 27 April 1921 and the grave of Charles Alfred Ashdown who was 18 years old when he died on 15 April 1940. Charles Ashdown was a booking clerk and he died when a fighter piloted by a Belgian airman flying for the Royal Air Force crashed on the station during the Battle of Britain.

Wye is a very smart church and this is a very smart and airy church. In 1686 the tower fell and destroyed the chancel after which a Wren inspired chancel was built to replace it. In the last war the church was bombed and the west window was lost. The current colourful and huge west window which depicts local scenes was unveiled in 1948. The pews were removed last year and in the porch are three war memorial. The result is an airy and spacious village church. It is most certainly a visit.
