Australia’s third-largest city, Brisbane is the hub of Queensland culture, offering a peek at the past and a glimpse into the future. Visit the historic Windmill and Old Commissariat Store, built by convicts in 1828, or fast-forward to the present (and beyond) with a trip to the new Gallery of Modern Art. Mingle with locals atop Mount Coot-tha, cruise the Brisbane River to South Bank’s sandy beach on the City Cat and make sure to fill the cuteness quota at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, home to koalas and kangaroos.

This beautiful old building graces the 21st century with its look of agelessness. Colonial facade mixed with modern shopping experience.

Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall is Queensland's premier shopping destination. The mall has long been considered the centre of fashion and retail in Queensland. This vibrant shopping and lifestyle precinct lies at the heart of Brisbane City and is arguably Australia’s most successful pedestrian mall. The Queen Street Mall offers an unrivalled mix of local, national and international labels and flagship stores. Some 700+ retailers have made their homes here – many enjoy mall and street frontage, others are tucked away inside world-class centres and heritage-listed arcades. A visit to the Queen Street Mall guarantees a complete leisure encounter. Restaurants, cafes, bars, cinemas, salons and day spas, 5-star hotels and a grand casino sit right on the mall. A five minute stroll will see you exploring Brisbane City’s galleries and museums, parklands and our gorgeous riverside.
If you want designer clothes Queen Stret Mall and Edward Street are the plcaes to head for. All the major designers have shops and outlets within David Jones one of Australia's top shops. Be aware have a budget as it is too easy to pick up discounted bargains that can lead to wallet fatigue. A bargain isn't only a bargain if you need it.

Visited Westfield Chermside on Saturday after a couple of nights visiting Brisbane. I LOVED it. Haven’t been to a better shopping centre down the east coast with all the major retailers in one spot. Couldn’t think of a single shop I would usually shop in that wasn’t there. Food choices were amazing too. We were only there for a few hours and didn’t really touch the surface of what was on offer. It was super busy on Saturday so had to make a concerted effort for physical distancing. Centre decor is lovely, very tasteful and full of light. For first timers we got a perfect car park in the basement which made the whole expedition super easy. Would highly recommend as a shopping destination and can’t wait to be up in Brisbane again to re-visit!
