Yachats (/ˈjɑːhɑːts/ YAH-hahts) is a small coastal city in Lincoln County, Oregon, United States. According to Oregon Geographic Names, the name comes from the Siletz language, and means "dark water at the foot of the mountain". There is a range of differing etymologies, however. William Bright says the name comes from the Alsea placename yáx̣ayk (IPA: /ˈjaχajkʲ/). At the 2010 census, the city's population was 690. In 2007, Budget Travel magazine named Yachats one of the "Ten Coolest Small Towns of the U.S.A.", and Yachats was chosen among the top 10 U.S. up-and-coming vacation destinations by Virtualtourist. In 2011, Arthur Frommer, founder of Frommer's Travel Guides, listed Yachats number seven among his ten favorite vacation destinations in the world.

This is a must-stop little shop in Yachats. The owner is always helpful and delightful to talk to. She has a selection of unique, beautiful, and fun items such as art, jewelry, socks, books, cards, candles, and much more. Her prices are really reasonable, and she is an amazing gift-wrapper! This is the kind of place that makes Yachats charming, and even a little magical. Enjoy!

This gallery features contemporary art and creative gifts. Jacquee, the owner, features a great variety of art styles to choose from; hand crafted jewelry, ceramic pottery and sculpture, paintings, very limited edition prints, and unique decor. All of the works are created by artists of the Pacific Northwest. This is not a place to see conventional and mainstream work. This is an upbeat place that emphasizes visual joy!

I happened to stop by to see what they offer and found both finely made pottery and decorative art in striking colors, suitable for furnishing a city condo or a secluded vacation retreat. What made my visit even more memorable was the conversation with the host, artist Al Erikson, who made me aware of some of his influences and we shared accounts of famous art we have viewed. If you appreciate art, make a point of stopping by this lovely gallery when you're visiting the Yachats area.
