When you are in Rethymno, Crete, do not miss this wonderful trove of musical treasures and knowledge. The exhibition of musical instruments, all beautifully hand-made is a great introduction to Cretan music. The generous hospitality included professional explanations and a demonstration. We highly recommend a visit.

A lovely surprise to find this shop in sleepy Maroulas as it’s a tiny village. When you enter the building you are met with beautiful aromas. Mariannas very helpful and knowledgable about the produce she sells. Well worth a visit.

In our workshop, we craft sacred Byzantine Icons and wall paintings, according to the Byzantine traditional technique mostly of the Cretan school. The raw materials we use for the crafting of these artifacts are of excellent quality: natural and industrial woods are used, isolation of the wooden support with prepared canvas, 22 carat gold leaves coating, mineral colors and always with Tempera technique (the yolk of egg is used) according to the Byzantine method and tradition. The sacred Byzantine Icon is not only and exclusively a worship mean, but a diachronic work of art, of beauty and esthetics. We accept orders of any kind of theme and dimensions you desire, with trust. We have also the possibility to paint frescos in churches, and temples within and outside Crete. A favorite shop to stock up on all my favorite Greek products. Giant bags of Oregano and thyme, all sizes of boxes of Greek Saffron. Dried Sea Buckthorn and mulberries. Hand collected sea salt. Mountain Herbs. Their top of the line Haluva is perfectly crumbly and not cloyingly sweet, best I ever had. This is a store to check each shelf if you like great ingredients. Their prices are very good. They are the first stop I make. There is a new branch in Heraklion I hear. I like both shops in Rethymenon.
