Located in the beautiful market town of Abergavenny, The Marches Delicatessen showcases a selection of fine cheese, charcuterie and local artisan foods from across Wales and The Marches region. The majority of our food is sourced directly from producers. This allows us to see first-hand the passion and dedication which goes into making the exceptional produce we sell.
When we moved to Abergavenny this shop was a wonderful find. The range of cheeses from Wales and the Marches region was extensive and the other items in the shop, from biscuits and chutneys to bread, charcuterie and olives, to gin and beers was really comprehensive. It came as a shock, though maybe not a total surprise, when the shop closed as of January 1st this year. There's still the branch in Monmouth, which has the added plus of a café which also serves light lunches ... a bit of a journey but well worthwhile now and again.

Popped into Marches today on a trip across to Monmouth looking for some local cheese. Delighted to discover a cafe at the rear where we were able to have some lunch before making our purchases. I had a lovely cheese board, with three different cheeses and my husband had a large bowl of delicious soup served with bread, cheese and chutney. We were then helped to make our selection of cheeses by a really helpful and knowledgeable guy who we assumed was the proprietor, and came away with some great cheese. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area and we will be back!

Known locally as The Bee Shop, visitors step in to the delicious aroma of beeswax and honey, and explore the natural products made by harnessing the power of bees. This shop is perfect for everyone who loves bees or is seeking gifts for someone who does, and for beekeepers too. Here you will find soaps and skin care, honey beers, Welsh mead and of course our diverse range of honey from local and afar. From hives set amongst our gorgeous Welsh valleys and delicate wildflower meadows to log hives carried deep into the remote forests of Africa, where they are skillfully hand lifted and tied high up into the trees, we are exceptionally proud of our growing collection - and we invite more beekeepers to sell their honey with us. Your local Thorne's stockist - we can order anything from the catalogue for you.
I visited Bees for development as needed some beeswax polish but ended up learning so much more. Such a well stocked shop with everything Bees from hives to honey, jewellery and ceramics - wonderful! Well worth a visit if in Monmouth. Shall definitely return for Christmas gifts!

Interesting and quirky stalls. Good choice of things available. Stall selling home made preserves - grapefruit marmalade delicious. The market was the main reason for our weekend in Abergavenny; didn't disappoint.
