A part of Kouvola history as a Railway station Village with small wooden houses from years 1910-1930 . You can find Finnish handcraft and artists working at their workshops, and visit a nice cafe with art exhibitions. Many happenings is arranged in Kouvola Museum Quarter, like Old Time Marketplace in september, The Day of Arts Skills in april, The Christmas happenig and The Night of the Arts.
This museum area is located in Kaunisnurmi, near the city center. The old wooden buildings are a reminder of Kouvola's railroad history. The area was inhabited mainly by the engine drivers. Most of the buildings were built in the early 20th century. The beautifully restored buildings serve as workshops for artisans and artists and as boutique shops. You can find also a cafe, called Onnenkukko. Poikilo Museums and Radio Museum are located in the same quarter. Both museums are very interesting and worth a visit.
