The tour then will take you along the waterways of Galway city, along the canals to the River Corrib. Inis Oirr (Inisheer) is the smallest of the islands is characterized by its distinctive charm. A bike is the perfect way to explore this microcosm of traditional Irish life. .From the pier you are greeted with a pristine carpeted white sandy beach facing clear crystal turquoise water and plenty of fishing boats, their nets, and fisherman returning at the end of the day with their catch.The island is 3km by 3km wide with small hills and intricate little valley’s and is easily covered by foot or by bike. The walk to the lighthouse or the shipwreck of the Plassy is a wonderful experience where you feel the island with its diverse landscape unfold before your eyes. Inside the village you will find a strong local community still adhering to the traditional Irish way of life.The island features a traditional music bar which is has a nationwide reputation for the finest music and great night out. When traveling to Inis Oirr it is recommended that you organise accommodation prior to arriving.

The island is 5.7km by 4km , which means that bikes are the ideal method of transport. On your arrival at the pier, choose your bike to hire and get ready to explore. (There is a daily ferry service all year round from the pier in Cleggan to Inishbofin.) Inishbofin has various cycling routes offering spectacular views of the island’s wild Atlantic scenery. There are several safe award-winning sandy beaches strewn with shells and with crystal clear water which make swimming, snorkelling and diving a joy. Inishbofin is a special area of conservation and a special area of protection. The island is a breeding area for many species of birds. The rarest or most threatened species breeding on the island at present are the Corncrake. It is estimated that Inishbofin was inhabited as far back as 8000-4000 B.C
