Fes to Chefchaouen day trip Wedged between two mountains, Chefchaouen is a city with whitewashed houses with blue and white. A powerful charm that we feel on Outa-el-Hammam in the pebbled Medina.Sitting at an outdoor cafe, you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Grand Tarik-Ben-Ziad Mosque witch the octagonal minaret is inspired from the Torre de Oro in Seville. This Andalusian architecture is found in the kasbah and its gardens, in the heart of the medina. its walls and the eleven crenellated towers, one of them served as a dungeon, home to an interesting ethnographic museum. « This peaceful city is not a museum : here, the craft tradition is alive ! Marwan helped us arrange a fantastic tour through Morocco. We started our adventure in Marrakesh. While there, Kamal gave us a tour of the Medina, the Bahia Palace and the Jardin Majorelle. From Marrakesh we headed off on a desert tour ending in Fez, with Soufiane, our driver. What an amazing way to see southern Morocco. Over the next three days we visited small Berber villages and towns, passed through the High Atlas Mountains, went to the heart of the Dades gorges, rode camels into the desert from Merzouga, slept in a desert camp in the Sahara, then headed toward Fez through the cool mountain cedar forests of the Middle Atlas. In Fez, Soufiane took us on a tour to the Kings Palace, the north and south forts overlooking the town, and the ceramics factory. Mustafa then took us through the ancient and fascinating Medina. There we saw the worlds oldest university and the Chaouwara Tannery, among many other sites. Next, Soufiane drove us to Chefchaouen, the "Blue City". Chefchaouen is a photographers dream. As always, along the way, Soufiane answered our many questions and showed us the amazing landscape of Morocco. Finally, it was time to drive to Tangier for our flight home. Along the way, Soufiane made sure to stop so that we could appreciate some of the incredible views of lakes and rolling green hills. The best part of the journey was our wonderful driver and guide: Soufiane. He was with us for the whole week and became like family. Everyone should see Morocco, and everyone should see it with Soufiane.

I only had one free day in Fez and this was the perfect tour. This tour makes you feel like Fez can easily be done in one day without feeling rushed and run around like crazy. We hit all the important things to see. Most importantly, my guide, Hakim, completely tailored to my interest and always checked in to get feedback on whether I was interested in seeing x, y or z. He didn't do the thing where guides just take to you places or shops you might not be interested in and then feel pressure to shop. He was really knowlegeable about the city, as he grew up in the Medina and even as we strolled around the streets and alleys, alot of locals would say hi to him by name. You get a real local experience. This was a perfect length and pace of a tour for me.
