The food was very good for sure. The iPad ordering made the experience speedy. Almost too speedy in fact. The atmosphere was also not one to encourage lingering. However, our server Gerald made the experience truly delightful. He was so engaging and helpful....far more so than the original man who seated us. Once Gerald came along, it was delightful!

The setting--an early 20th century vacation home--is gorgeous, the dining room portends outstanding food. Regrettably, while the server was very good and helpful, the food wasn't. To be sure, my grand daughter liked her chicken fingers and my son's salmon and my scallops were satisfactory, but my daughter-in-law's beef Wellington was so tough as to be inedible. Who ever heard of tough beef Wellington? What's worse, the server admitted this was not the first time a diner returned the dish because it was too tough. They should do better.

Great harbour place overlooking the area from the 2nd floor. Many groups happily waiting (good sign, right?) Seated to wait at the bar and on to a table in 10 minutes.Local ciders were terrific. We both ordered the whole cold lobster & Just LOVED all of it. Generous, tasty with lots of sides. Staff was awesome & loving their jobs

The food was average, nothing different from several other places, and the beer was standard fare. Server started out fairly good, but quickly became inattentive so we had to wait around for more service, so decided to go elsewhere. Although we were sitting inside, it was quite cool, so that everyone had a sweater or blanket on. Menus were soiled and water-marked and server slopped both of our drinks. What a letdown.Dear Grumpyogre,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. On a busy Saturday night in Charlotte town, because a cruise ship was import, it was difficult to find a restaurant without reservations, even in the off-season. Our fourth choice was the Merchantman restaurant. To get a seat we sat at the bar. Our waiter was probably a better bartender than a waiter. We ordered the most expensive dinner on the menu a very large seafood platter that had a combination of seafood. It did not have all the seafood that was listed on the menu and when we question that our waiter just walked away from us! The food and drinks that we had were good but it was not an eating experience worth $125.Hi there,We are very sorry about this experience. We always want to provide food and service that exceeds expectations and we apologize that we failed to do so in this situation. We would love the opportunity to make it up to you - if you're still in town (or the next time you're in town!), please reach out. What a meal. This whole street is blocked off for dining right next to the theatre. We started with raw oysters. So fresh, we picked the horseradish cream sauce . A must have. Next was mussels, lots of them, perfect. Our friends had the seafood pasta and his wife the porkchops. We asked the chef how big it was, 25 to 28 oz. Huge. Really great service.

Great steaks, big wine, and PEI hospitality coming together to create the ultimate dining experience.
Sims is located on very busy Queenâs Street in Charlottetown. The positives are that this restaurantâs service is excellent, The food is fresh, appetizingly presented and cooked to perfection. The negative for us was that we were seated at a table in the same room as the bar. The typical sports program was on the tv, the ever increasing bar patrons made the atmosphere noisy and crowded. On street parking is scarce. There is a public parking garage two and a half blocks away. As it was a pleasant September evening the walk from the garage was no problem. Might not be so nice on a cold wintry day or if the weather was rainy. This is an expensive restaurant and for one of the two of us a special birthday dinner that did not turn out as perfect as we would have liked.Hi 191plf,Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience, we always appreciate hearing from our guests to help us improve and we will be sure to pass along your message to the rest of our team. Thanks again for sharing. Maggie

Cruise ships were in so the crowds were a little thicker. Stopped in for lunch and were promptly seated. Food came out lightning fast and the staff were very nice. Much better than the standard road houses and location is hard to beat. Worth the visit.

We are a small family business operating a Seafood Restaurant and Lobster Pound. We offer a wide range of seafood in our restaurant, ship live lobster across Canada, and retail seafood to our customers locally in Charlottetown, PEI.
Fresh seafood, itâs all about fresh seafood. This family run business has been the local go-to place for fresh seafood for decades. And it absolutely lives up to its reputation. Apart from lobster, which everyone orders, you also should try the steamed clams and mussels in white wine sauce. Booking is strongly recommended as it is always busy.Thank you!!

Last evening of a weekend trip to PEI after friends had departed and it couldnât have been better. Incredibly gracious service and absolutely fabulous meal. Had the blue mussels of the day and the halibut. Both exceptional. Cool decor. Friendly vibe. Wish I had another night so I could go back. Definitely recommend.
