We have been going to this restaurant often over the years, perhaps 3-4 times a year at least. Have always recommended it as a consistent place with prices in accordance with its location, slightly on the higher side but excellent quality.Dinner the other day was a great disappointment. Should have left after opening the menu. Everything had gone up by at least 3 euros (.e.g our usual wine, whose price in the supermarlet is unchanged). Quality is just OK. Clams starter has gone up by 3 euros, but instead of the fantastic large and delicious clams, there were 3-4 of these mixed in with plenty of other types: cheaper and smaller. Fresh fish menu was non-existent, so opted for meat (good quality but as in any other restaurant), and reasonably tasty squid in ink, but with only 4 squid in the portion.Won't be back. Restaurant seems to have converted from fine fish & seafood to cheap "raciones" for families but not very good quality at that. At least this summer.

In addition to excellent seafood there is an English language menu available. I have eaten in this restaurant several times over the past 7 years and quality is always excellent.
Nice dining room, attentive staff, very good varity of fish dishes. We had rice with lobster. Delicious and good portions. We came 8.00 pm and that was probably a bit early. We were the only ones in the dining section the first half hour. When we left it was almost full. Thanks Phrederic, See you soon!Best regards

Our local guide recommended this place. We stopped on are way into Santander. It seems at first like any Taberna that we have been to. Untill the food showed up..Everything was delicious! Clams, octopus, mixed salad and the highlight were the grilled sardines. Even the Flan was very nice.I can understand why people will take the ferry just to get here for lunch..

Great place! Very popular with the locals. The food was excellent, as was the recommended local wine. The prices are fair for what they serve. The staff was helpful and very cheerful. We will return when in Santander.

Read about this place on TA so decided to give it a go. Although the opening time is shown as 13:00 it does not in fact open until 13:30 so we sat on the seafront for 30 minutes. We chose to sit in the outdoor bit and a very pleasant waiter greeted us and was very helpful when we asked for advice on the wine and the snapper. His wine choice was excellent and at a reasonable price - a Muga white rioja. I had the turbot and my wife had the snapper. Both were excellent served with buttered potatoes. Very large fish portions cooked to perfection. Prior to this we had complimentary olives and calamari and we also had bread. We had desserts and coffee and the bill came to just under 100 euros. It was worth every penny. The waiter, who was not the owner, was brilliant and between my very poor Spanish and his slightly better English we communicated satisfactorily. menu had an English translation.

We were a group of nine, all seafood lovers except one. Our waiter TomasWas perfect, he suggested the specials, answered our questions. The wholeGroup loved his suggestions. Tomas also helped us choose the wine. The wine list is extensive. They serve half portions of many items onThe menu. Leave room for desserts, all tempting and home made.Service was excellent. Can't wait to go back....

I donât understand why this restaurant is number 4 in Somo it should be number 1. We chances on Somo for our last night of our holiday and checked TripAdvisor for recommendations. Didnât feel at all welcome when we asked for a table at the top two recommendations so we wandered around a bit and found Las Quebrantas where we were made to feel very welcome. We were early (for Spain) and Somo seems to conform to the dinner starts at 9:00. Even though it was Friday night we were offered a lovely table in a smart modern setting. We were first in but by 9:30 all the tables were filling up. This area is known for its seafood and the octopus on mashed potato was a work of art and tasted fantastic. The mains of monkfish and low temperature roast lamb was also perfect. A good selection of wine and a bill of 80 euros which we thought was really good value. I canât imagine the food in the top two restaurants could beat this and service and a warm welcome is a major part of the experience so on that basis for me this has to be the best place to eat in Somo.

The Seafood Platters are large and with many different seafood and meats plus onions, fries, and peppers. Great Oliole Garlicsauces and oven lamb chops. Wines are from all areas and the deserts are homemade. Service is friendly and the owner interfaces with the clients. Highly recommend when you are in SOMO, Cantabria.

Welcome to El Galeon de Somo a seafood restaurant to enjoy the food and cuisine of Cantabria. We are located as you can see in a spectacular setting in northern Spain. A 80 m from the beach of Somo in a municipality Ribamontan Ocean east of the Bay of San
The food - some rabas (squid), and a bonito (a sort of tuna) salad, was average at its best. The price we paid for them - 32 EUROS, incredibly expensive, including a cup of average red wine and a Coca Cola, considering the quality of the food. And the service was simply appalling. Rather than welcoming, we felt like if we were a nuisance, a bother for the waitress, who treated us as if she was doing us a favour. She even forgot the salad and the wine, and after being left somewhere for almost five minutes (we could see them from our table), someone else from the staff had to tell her that they had been waiting for too long.

We stopped for a quick drink and a pincho before jumping on the boat. The gentleman was lovely and welcoming and we sat on the terrace in the glorious. The atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxed. We asked if we could eat something and he said the kitchen was closed but he could do us some snacks. He offered some french blue cheese and jamon, we said yes. He brought us something of a carpaccio of jamon and a basket of bread. Due to the time he took preparing (totally understandable) we didn't have long before the boat was due to leave so I went inside to pay. I was shocked and disappointed to find the jamon was â¬18.50. We felt like we had been taken a little advantage of, although perhaps we should have asked the price before ordering. A lesson learnt.
