Find out what Seafood restaurants to try in Siena. This Tuscan hill town will transport you back to the Middle Ages. Siena's grand cathedral, built in the 1200s, has treasured artworks and marvelous marble floors. The Piazza del Campo, the main town square, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's also home to the Palio, perhaps the most infamous horserace in the world. No goofy hats and mint juleps here—this is a medieval tradition involving bareback riders racing on cobblestones (so as you might imagine, it's quite dangerous). Siena is an easy daytrip by train from Florence, just 43 miles away.

This is a great family run Italian seafood restaurant and good value for money. We were welcomed on arrival, the service was warm and friendly and the food delicious. My wife had the sesame seared tuna that was cooked perfectly and I had the seafood pasta. The local Chianti wine was also good value.

The place seems, on-line at least, like a very special dinner location, perhaps a bit on the fancy side. Some sites suggest it has a Michelin star. If so, it should be taken away. The manager was very friendly. But everything else was not horrible, but "just okay." In a word, then: Over-rated. The food quality was pretty nice, but not Michelin Star nice. The service is VERY inattentive. When ordering a bottle of water or wine, they open the bottle and then just leave it for you to pour. The tables are all facing each other so you'll be there with your partner facing another table who is facing you, rather than the chairs facing the other person at your table. They have few vegetables anywhere on the menu that are fresh. The ones we had were over cooked. They served my partner a warm seafood ceviche but then took it away with a couple bites left and it only had four bites worth to begin with. Two of the fish tartars were flavorless. My boar pasta dish was bland. The creme brûlée was in a thimble. There are really great places to eat down the street without the hype. Go there instead.

We had tried to get a table in an alternate restaurant but fortunately did not because we then arrived at the Osteria, a review of the menu made us check the availability for a later lunch. We wandered around this stunning city and then made our way back - excellent decision. The chicken liver pate with truffle was the best parfait we have ever tasted, my cheeky husband asked for and received extra toast which was I am sure a nuisance but the chef came out and we thanked him. The remainder of our meal was delicious, a number of people tried to get a table but were unlucky as all occupied - my recommendation is come early or book it is definitely worth it for a traditionally modern experience with attentive service and an opportunity to thank the chef as well as the waiting team. Thank you all.

This restaurant, although fairly centrally located (a few minutes from the Campo), has a feeling of being away from the tourist areas and so appears to have an air of authenticity missing from many establishments. The menu is helpfully divided between meat and seafood dishes and all of the (exclusively seafood) items that we sampled were of the highest quality. Both starters (a pasta dish with swordfish and a seafood risotto) were exquisitely cooked - the friendly and efficient waitress several times apologised for the delay in their arrival but this was clearly necessitated by the chef's attention to detail in presenting a perfect risotto. A shared grilled seafood platter was perhaps more traditional fare but no less effort had gone into its preparation and serving. This restaurant is highly recommended.

Neapolitan bar, restaurant and pizzeria also gluten-free
The gluten free pizza in this restaurant is the best one we ever tasted (two celiacs that already tried a lot of pizza's in Italy)! There are a lot of options and they make the pizza's themselves in a totally clean kitchen. The staff is really kind and I would definitely return to this restaurant!! It is close to the fortezza which is a nice place to visit in Siena.

Overpriced and did not meet our expectations. The food was okay, but nothing special. Small portions, little taste but big prices. Owner recommended a beer, turned out to cost 8â¬. Definitely not worth it. Would not recommend, you can do way better in Siena.

Just a few meters from Porta Ovile and 5 minutes from the Piazza del Campo you will find Campo Cedro. A restaurant that in its dishes marries tradition and innovation with hints of oriental flavors. More easily reached by foot than by car, the restaurant
Despite it being a Thursday night in July there weren't many other people in the restaurant, which is crazy given the standard of the food and the prices. We opted for the 7 course tasting menu at â¬55 which, given the prices we paid in other restaurants in Siena and other Italian cities, is pretty good value. As for the food, the Tuscan-Asian fusion worked for us and the portion size just right to get us through 7 courses without feeling as though we'd overeaten. Favourite dishes were the amuse-bouche, which perfectly set the scene; shrimp tartar with tartar sauce and saffron-puffed rice; and seared tuna with sesame sauce and seaweed salad. A really friendly place that deserves to be packed every night.Dear Jack, thanks so much for your nice words. We are very pleased to know that you enjoyed your dinner with us! We really hope to welcome you again soon to our restaurant! A big thank you from all of us here at Campo Cedro!
