Indoor and outdoor seating at this restaurant. We chose the special of the house that night and the homemade pasta was absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend it. Arrived on a Sunday evening at 5:45 and told us the restaurant closed at 6:00 but served us and did not hurry us along. One complaint was it was very expensive.

Had been recommended to Jaaks by (many) local Tico friends. The negative, getting a table is not easy ... the positive, the food is truly a find. London yes, San Francisco yes but a small shopping strip in Escazu, San Jose! Fresh fish sourced by Jaak from local fisherman on the Central Pacific three times a week and a a chef schooled in Nordic cuisine means a simple but superb culinary treat. Not surprised to learn Jaak was the Executive Chef at Nayara and Hotel Three Sixty, both here in Costa Rica.

Marea has a very tasty peruvian ceviche, great fish & chips, and a better than expected beer selection. The octopus is good and the tuna poke is just ok. I have dined at Marea several times; the service is inconsistent and a bit cold. The space is warmly decorated, though the concept is outdated. I'm not a huge fan of the City Place design and the internal spaces, such as this one, don't help kindle the ambiance. Anyways, I'll keep coming back for the ceviche.

One of the better Peruvian restaurants Iâve eaten at. Fabulous pisco sours, very good ceviche, good specialities. Not the cheapest, but good value for money as the quality is high. Wine is expensive, as it seems to be everywhere in Costa Rica - we stuck to beer.Intend to eat there again before we leave.

The menu is very comprehensive and includes everything from burgers to steaks to sushi to Chinese food. Really doesn't make sense. They have a huge wine room with hundreds of bottles of wine, but a very short wine list. Food quality was boring at best. Definitely not worth a return trip. We went with a large group of friends for an evening of fantastic food and conversation. With such a large group, we were able to try many of the dishes. Everything was fantastic! I highly recommend the ceviche and the chicken sandwiches. We will definitely be back the next time weâre in Costa Rica.

Food is very good. Son and mother in law loved their lobster, my husband (who grew up in the Caribbean) loved the jerk chicken, and my snapper was wonderfully fresh. Prices are terrific given how expensive equivalent quality food is elsewhere in San Jose. Setting is rustic and laid back - it could easily be found on an island in the Caribbean. Servers were very patient and helpful when we were getting a wheelchair bound family member situated. Service throughout dinner was attentive. Beautiful sand filled patio with two fire pits, tables with benches and huge tree swing is beautifully lit with outdoor lights and was where most patrons chose to sit. We were on the wooden wrap around porch due to the wheelchair where the lighting was not as warm but the experience still fun.
