This was the most disappointing meal we had in Naples. The food wasnât bad. It just wasnât up to the standards weâve been spoilt it in Naples. The highlights: â Eggplant Parmesan. This was very good. The highlight of the meal. â Spaghetti with clams. This was decent but not great. I really like the el dente cooked pasta in general in Italian restaurants but this was really too undercooked.â Gnocchi with tomato sauce: This is something we could have easily had In the US. The tomato sauce was nothing special and certainly not the high quality typically available in Naples. â Pizza with tomatoes four different types. In one word: disappointing.Dear customers We are very sorry to read that your experience has not been in line with your expectations. Letâs answer to each point. The pasta. Our pasta itâs artisanal and, as every kind of artistanal pasta, is imperfect unlike the industrial ones and probably the perception you had itâs due to the amid that this kind of pasta releases during cooking time and of course industrial kind of pasta does not have this amount of amid released. About the pizza. We make pizza with the best raw materials and we use fresh and seasonal tomatoes. About the gnocchi. We are very happy to read that in the USA you have good gnocchi as we have! Beside the joke: if you are still in Naples we would be happy to cook for you once again (please ask the staff for the General Manager) to introduce you in our world.

I was in the neighbourhood and researched some restaurants for a lunch time visit. I found Il Poggio del Cardinale as a recommendation and booked a table for 2 at 13.30 on the 1st of May (a bankholiday)We arrived at the scene and found the gate to the restaurant locked, as if it was not open for dinner. After ringing the doorbell we were admitted after having been twice asked if our table was booked. We were seated in the anteroom which was laid out for another table of 10 and a table for two. As we were not offered a menu we went by the owner's suggestions and decided on antipasti consisting of mixed seafood such as squid, octopus and prawns, presented with finely sliced strips of courgettes and carrots. The food was perfectly prepared and the portions were generous. To follow we choose two different secondi piatti, mine consisted of 8 grilled king prawns and the other dish was that of grilld sepia (cuttlefish). We also ordered 2 salads as a side dish. Dessert was a slice of home-made pastry with chantilly cream and mini strawberries, to be shared shared between us and I requested an extra plate and fork. On checking the bill at home I noticed that I was charged for 2 desserts !!The toilet facilities are as basic as can be and for a restaurant with such a good reputation for food, this important facility let the overall standards down.I must also mention that the owners, both husband and wife, did at no point during our lunch-time dinner interact or asked if everything was OK, either about the recommended wine or the dishes in general, notwithstanding that the food was excellent in its quality, preparation and presentation. Basic client acknowledgement and interaction goes a long way and it makes the customers want to return. In this case.....

Having looked trip advisor we decided to try this restaurant. It was a 25 minute walk from our hotel in Herculaneum but boy was it worth it! We were welcomed warmly by the owner who apologised for his English - which was remarkable! We thoroughly enjoyed the three courses he brought us - freshly caught fish freshly cooked. The bill was 50 euros which included two bottles of wine and a bottle of water! Needless to say we booked again for two days later - and had another fab meal.Thank you Michael and Nicola Solomon

We chose this on the basis of online reviews, and it fully justified our choice. The staff were a little surprised to see us: this is not a tourist restaurant, we were the only non-Italians there, and they only have the menu in Italian. But they were very hospitable, and the menu was mouthwatering. It was slightly daunting as it was clearly structured for you to have a four-course meal, but they didn't bat an eyelid whn my wife ordered a starter and a secondi, and I ordered a primi and a secondi. And they were all excellent: the meat was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and everything else lived up to that standard. The wine-list was one of the most extensive I have seen, with wines ranging from 14 - 300 euros a bottle. We went in at the modest end, and had a bottle of local Gragano (a red wine from Sorrento) which was delicious too. We were right only to have gone for two courses, too: we were completely full by the end, and able only to enjoy a couple of excellent coffees before we left. Lovely food, and friendly, helpful (if surprised) staff made this a very enjoyable evening out.

Our honeymoon had the most perfect start with 2 nights at the Masseria. Everything was impeccable, from Emmanuella and her staff who were so charming and friendly, to all the little details like the welcome message and champagne on our arrival. We had such a fantastic time we woukd come back in a heartbeat. To anyone who has the luxury to stay at the Masseria I recommend the room with the hot tub on the terrace, you can sip on champagne while you watch the sunset over the ocean, it's pure bliss! The restaurant is also fantastic, and their super friendly sommelier is on hand to help pair delicious wine with their delicious food, he can also make an incredible g&t!

A Corner Of The Sea In The Center Of The City ... Where The Scents And The Colors Will Swallow You .. But Do Not Ask What You Eat Tomorrow .. Why We Could Not Know Today What We Find Fresh ...
Oh dear.My wife, daughter and I visited today. I wish we hadn't.Nothing was too much trouble. Literally, doing nothing would still have put them out.A bottle of indifferent wine, we ordered antipasti followed by a main course, which all arrived at the same time, along with bread which was plonked on our table as a waiter went past. My daughter and I ordered bruschetta, which came out as tomato on toast. My daughter and partner ordered rigatoni with four cheeses, which was apparently tasteless. I had spaghetti e vongole bianco which was also tasteless. We've just had an argument with the waiter and the 'chef'. He seems to have admitted that there was no gorganzolla in the four cheeses, but has suggested that it was for our own good. I really would avoid this placehi ... I wanted to inform you that he was wrong to review the restaurant, since he did not come to our restaurant. from the photos he published and from the menu he described, he never came to us! Please delete your review. thank you
