This is supposed to be a Michelin star restaurant and the food is of that quality. Unfortunately the service is woefully lacking. The Maitre Dâ is aloof and seems to be overwhelmed with his responsibility. 8 of us had a fine lunch and the food was very well prepared. However, several times during our meal we were required to get up and refill our wine glasses. The staff seemed not to notice empty wine glasses. This despite the fact we consumed 6 bottles of wine and ended up with a tab of $125.00 per person. You would think a table that generated over $1,000.00 in revenue would have commanded at least a modicum if attention, but alas they were too busy to notice us. I say spend your dollars elsewhere. Someplace where you will be noticed and appreciated. There are many good restaurants in Lucca. This one is not a good choice. At a lower price point it would have rated higher, but it is a very poor value

seasonal ingredients and always fresh. the ancient cooking, with old methods of preparation. "Da Renzo" can find the homemade pasta: I tordelli, a typical Tuscan stuffed pasta, tagliatelle, gnocchi, ravioli pumpkin ravioli with fresh spinach and ricotta c
A pleasant welcome in a relaxing atmosphere of a summer garden terrace. The terrace was full so they put up an extra table under the blossoming trees. Their english is not the best but their friendliness and eagerness to please the guest combined with our 5 words of italian and the language of gestures made it all good. They took care that we got the waitress who handled us as good as possible language wise. And she was the best in every other sense as well. The muscles soup was full of taste and perfectly seasoned in its simplicity. And the black pasta with cod and shrimps was just amazing. The buffalo pizza with prossiutto crudo my friends ate was so good I wanted to come back next evening and have my own and not just a bite. So the next day I had a pizza and a pasta for first time in my life. Spaghetti with seafood was an excellent start to the pizza to follow. Millefolie with the green apple ice cream and a chees cake with a strawberry topping will not dissapoint. You kind of feel like sitting with your relatives in the garden and a distant aunt you never know of is cooking for you.Go there!

We found this place by accident, as there used to be very good pizzeria in the same building. This is a fine dining establishment, with an emphasis on seafood, and it is just amazing. We actually returned to try some of the other items on the menu as our first experience was so good. The maitre d' and the chef both are talented sommeliers, and the wine list reflects this. The service is very impressive, and the menu was inventive and very well-prepared. Had the best octopus dish I've ever had--tender and fragrant. Also memorable as this is the first time in 35 years my husband has ever ordered a dessert! I had tried the lemon tart the first time and it was so good he ordered it for himself the second time. Usually he has a dessert grappa....On our second visit they had translated the menu into English, with some unfortunate choices, so stick to the Italian!

We had a hard time finding this restaurant as there is a narrow dark countryside road leading to it. But we forgot about it once the waiter got us to our table. The views were terrific, you can the whole coast line, and a table was set on a secluded terrace. Even though the menu is pretty short, once our dishes were brought we all had a continuous "foodgasm" chasing food with nice bottle of Sassicaia. If you like small cosy restaurants with a great food, this place is a must visit.

Word of mouth from the local villagers led us to Barchetto. They knew what they were talking about. It's a fabulous setting and the service was very attentive, helpful and efficient. We only looked at the seafood options and were very pleased with our meals. The entree with 6 different tastings was absolutely delicious.

Typical Tuscan trattoria with a porch outside where guests can enjoy their dinner during the summertime. A nice playground is waiting for your kids!! Tuscan cooking of meat and fish with the rediscovery of ancient Tuscan recipes.
This is my third time in Toscana, I've tried so many restaurants! But "Giusto di Sale" made me come back many times - the home atmosphere, unbelievable cooking, everything is very fast and delicious; very cozy and stylish. Gianluca - the owner is a very nice and polite, he suggested so many tasty and real traditional things! He talks a very good English! My family and i fell in love with this beautiful place! Next time we are here, "Giusto di Sale" will be the first time I visit!!! Thank you for making to feel Toscana like our home! Thank you very much Kate!! It was a pleasure to welcome you and your nice family in my restaurant. Maybe we are not the best restaurant in Tuscany but we always do everything possible to make our guests feel right at home. Hope to see you again next year.Lot of loveGian Luca

A wine restaurant where you can enjoy well-selected wines, the fruit of a long and continuous search that compliments the cuisine of Chefs Maurizio Marsili and Alessandro Lucchinelli. The chef wakes up early in the morning to make sure he can secure the b
I had lunch here on a rainy Friday in October 2018 en route from San Gimignano to Camaiore. It was somewhat tricky to find amongst the luxurious villas and mansions dotted around this rich, lush landscape on the outskirts of Lucca, but well worth the effort.I accepted the recommendation of Andrea, the patron, of a glass of La Goia di San Stefano which is produced just down the road and is a truly beautiful bianco on the palette, especially with seafood in which this extraordinary restaurant specialises. My starter was a crudità of several types of local fish and shellfish. Presented magnificently on a capacious platter, it was distressing to disturb it's perfection by consuming it, but consume it I did - with relish. My mains was a generous portion of Muggine, also a local fish, white and tender served with a herb and potato pastiche and delicious fresh baby leaves. There was a definite secret ingredient which I would guess involved caramelized lemon. It was truly brilliant. (Andrea, who had taken great pains to explain the menu to me in his easy going and engaging way, insisted on re-cooking the main course as I had left my table as it arrived for 2 minutes.)As a parting digestive and a gift I was given a local gin infused with a herb from a plant which grows only on the local beaches and is much prized for its honey. The bill came to â¬70 which in my view was well worth it.The bread, coffee and accompanying biscuits were all of exceptional quality. This is quite clearly an exceptional restaurant and will rank as the best ever of a month's holiday in AndalucÃa and Tuscany/Umbria. Don't miss it if you're ever in the area!

Nearly all Italian restaurants in Tuscany are good but this one is not only very good but unusual. The dishes we had were different beautifully executed and lovely to look at. The ambience was delightful and welcoming. Explanations were given. A really enjoyable meal and one we hope to repeat often and have already recommended to friends.

We were here last night and enjoyed ourselves. No menu but the helpful, English speaking waitress was able to advise. Antipasti was great and very large. Delicious pasta, I particularly appreciated that there were several vegetarian sauces for my daughter to choose from. I shared a secondo because the pasta was large!Very good value food.

Fab restaurant. Run by a hard working family that have make this a local institution. Tucked in the hills about 25 minutes from Lucca. Good range of meat and fish dishes, all local. Super friendly staff. Interior is smart, spacious. Posh vibe but you can dress informally. Used for wedding parties. Large balcony. Large parking lot.
