Just come back from a lunch at Cas do Gordo. Low season, bad weather this Sunday, but a LOT of people on the seaside; very difficult to park, and a crowded restaurant, but I had the chance to get a table pretty quickly without reservation after a 20mn wait !Nice atmosphere, nice and quick service and fresh food, mainly seafood and fishes.A very good place for a simple but tasty meal; very nicely located in the heart of the beach village, and you can go for a digestive walk along the beautiful beach after lunch. Will be back !

This is a resturant U should book in advance. Very very popular with locals.Service is excellent. English menu available. Very good prices. Quick service.Sit inside or out under cover. The food is super fresh and beautifully cooked.I had the stuffed squid (full portion was 4) with boiled potatoes and a seperate salad. Its a must stopover. But as I said best to book a table and not be disappointed.

I love eating and when go abroad like trying local food. In Portugal I wanted to eat fish and seafood and chose this restaurant. I arrived quite late, but the waitress asked the owner and I was served regardless the time. She was speaking English, which was good for me. I was asked by the owner to come and have a look at the fishes, I loved it. Picked one whiteout knowing what it was. It was grilled in front of me. The waitress recommended house wine, vinho verde, which I have fallen in love. Fish and salad I had was the best thing ever. If I was staying in Vila do Conde longer, I would eat there few more times. Fantastic!

We were attrached to this restaurant because of the glowing review it received in our Rough Guide from 2014 but prices clearly have risen exponentially since then and instead of the 12 euro delicious fish lunch we were promised, we ended up paying around 50 euros for two. We went for the John Dory but wish we had in retrospect gone for the sea bass. Lots of locals dining there which is a very good sign but I wonder whether they pay the same price as we did...

The restaurant is in the middle of nowhere by the beach, yet mid week lunchtime it was heaving with people driving in from the surrounding areas. Other restaurants that I passed by were mostly deserted. The best value 'menu do dia' in Portugal/ Spain? Yes! For 7.5euros you get an excellent three course meal with freshly grilled fish or meat. Then a carafe of very quaffable vinho verde plus a coffee to seal it all in. No wonder people drive for miles to reach this place.
Came here as it was suggested by the campsite as being the best value. It opens at 7pm which since it was nearly dark is late for me so I was the first there.A very helpful lady seemed to be doing everything and after a few tries we managed to work out what I wanted from the menu - basically there is a choice of fish which can be fried or grilled that come with Potatoes/chips and vegetables or salad plus there are other (meat and vegetable) dishes available. I also had a bottle of house vinho verde which was very pleasant. The salad and fish were very good, the vegetables less so and the whole meal came to between â¬20-25, which is ok but I would not call cheap.

Barca was one of our favourite resturant's in Portugal. We arrived early and after helping ourselves to water and wine the owners son appeared to translate for us in English. Americano the father brought out a huge Monk fish that had been caught that day and suggested the Monk fish rice, it was the most devine delicate plate of food and after 25km walking exactly what was required to recharge the batteries. The stock was so delicious it was the topic of conversation for many days later until emailing Americano for the recipe which he supplied. The drinks were also generous and fabulous, for example the gin and tonic arrived in a large glass with a cinnamon quill, strip of orange vest, juniper berries and huge chunks of ice.A must visit if you love food, the family run business was a very happy place to have dinner! Restaurante especializado tanto en marisquerÃa como en carne de buey y esta en frente del mar.
We did not make a reservation but came there earlier to get the space. This restaurant was so close to the residential accommodation we occupied at the next avenue. Have seen this when we arrived so we agreed to dine here in the evening.True it was full house good; it was good we came earlier. We got only the table not by the boulevard but a bit farther already. The menu mostly sea foods looked delicious and all tempting to the palate. We ordered the assorted seafood and fish fillet with vegetable salad. Wine from this region is superb.

Amazing portions of fresh seafood in a quaint, traditional restaurant. A bit difficult to find without GPS and a vehicle. The quality of the food is incredible and well worth the visit.
