Family business. Whose home is spread over three rooms decorated differently, although all of its rustic character. The cider house, with twelve feet bar and 23 tables, is the popular atmosphere. Village decorative elements, exposed brick, natural stone,
We booked a table of the patio for lunch which was lovely with views over the countryside but enough shade to be pleasant. Then another couple came and sat on the table next to us and the woman smoked the entire meal when she wasn't eating. Just because I want to sit outside doesn't mean I smoke or want smoke around me, they still need to have a dedicated non-smoking section outside for people who don't smoke. Why should non-smokers be forced to eat inside because of selfish smokers outside? Prior to coming here we had looked at their website and saw they did a great value â¬22 set menu, so when the waiter came over and handed us our menus we expected him to mention this, he didn't. There was nothing on the menu or anywhere else about this set menu and it was only when we asked the waiter about it that he reluctantly told us about it. How are people supposed to have this if no-body tells them about it? We had the set menu, and didn't see anyone else have it, probably because they didn't even know about it. Presentation was a bit lacking first course was squid ink black rice with calamari, great mound of rice with the tiniest bit of calamari, main course was much better, hake filet and steak with saffron potato and tomato, then dessert a huge slice of cheesecake for me and icecream tart for my partner, then coffee. The only things we bought on top of the set menu were water and wine. So overall the food was great here and excellent value if you have the set meal, but customer service was lacking in not telling customers about certain menus and sticking smoking and non-smoking people together outside. Our waiter seemed to have the entire patio area to serve and was very rushed which was reflected in his attitude to us, they really could do with employing more staff at peak times like Saturdays.

It's hard to find but worthy to get lost and found. The speciality is rice with "bugre", Asturian lobster. The menu is short but all is simply delicious. Almejas a la plancha or chipirones encebollados are my recommendations before the rice. It's not the typical fish rest, this one is a bit more refined, despite it stays familiar and casual. Run by a family, where the daughter plays (magnificently) the sommelier role. The views are mind blowing: go a bit earlier and have a vermouth in the terrace and you feel like flying over the ocean. Desserts also spectacular, my favourite is "torrijas".

A party of 5, we had a great value meal. Lovely scallops, very good cachupo, fresh calamari, and great wine

Lovely restaurant by the sea. Fishmarket and traditional food. Elegant and warm, even during winter. You will find a great place to have a well prepared food and medium prices. During 4 months a year you can enjoy beautiful terrace where you can enjoy bre
Although very convenient for the beach, and tastefully decorated inside, this restaurant flatters to deceive. Slow sloppy service and expensive food of an average quality left us very disappointed. 3 adults and a child cost â¬110 for lunch including wine at â¬20. If you're on the beach, walk on by as the town has many superior restaurants

I've resisted reading the previous review, written by my dear friend Chris, as I want mine to have some chance of originality. I'd picked this place as one to visit on the strength of the TA ratings and before learning the last entry was written by the friend I was going to stay with in Candas. I then learnt he and his family regularly eat there. It is conveniently close to the centre, and my friend's home, tucked away in a side street and with little to indicate on the exterior what a fine place it is to dine. It's a place where you're best advised to ask which is the freshest fish available that day and waste no more time deciding what to have. Our shared salad starter of fresh tuna, anchovies and various leaves and vegetables in olive oil was very tasty and an ideal appetiser before the large oven cooked fish we also shared. There was some discussion about what fish it was (in English) but having googled Red Sea Bream I'm pretty certain that's what it was. Simply baked on a bed of sliced potatoes with lashings of olive oil it was one of the most delicate and flavoursome fish I've ever eaten. Make sure you eat the cheeks if you try this dish as they are the very best bits! An excellent Cava that complemented the subtle flavour of the bream completed a meal I will forever remember with great fondness and satisfaction. Now read Chris's review for a better informed view of quite how good this restaurant is and why you should make a point of going there while in Candas.

Although this is a little out of Luanco it's well worth the effort. Will be garnering a lot of 5* reviews. All fish locally sourced from the local barnacles upto the lobsters. One particularly fine 40year old on display. Attentive efficient waiters all adept at the high level cider pouring technique. First time we'd been but it's certainly won't be the last.

We went there because of the nice reviews on tripadvisor but it disappointed us. The fish was not that fresh, the flavor with lots of garlic and the price too expensive for the quality received. I wouldn't recommend it if you have another choice.
