On a lovely hot and sunny day, we decided to go to the I'lle D'Doleron and having visited this restaurant before we were eager to try it again. There was no problem getting a nice table on the terrace and we had a nice chilled glass of wine whilst perusing the menu. We decided to go for 9 oysters each, followed by the grilled sea bass and were not disappointed with the quality of either choice. The sea bass came with steamed potatoes and a medley of vegetables in a light curry sauce - delicious. Too full to eat a dessert, we drank our wine leisurely and were not rushed in any way to leave. This is a lovely place to relax and our little dog was able to sit by our table too. The staff are very friendly and can't do enough to help if you need it.

This is a good place for a fish-platter lunch and a glass of local wine. Be warned though that there is no on-site bathroom and they do not take any plastic. We had the 15.90 menu that was a reasonable deal, the oysters were a good size and delicious! Some of the reviews of this place complained that it is pricy for what you get. In 2017 the price of smoked fish rose by one third so that could have something to do with the portions. It's a good way to support local trade without breaking the bank and having a great lunch at the same time.

We found the restaurant whilst exploring the village and just couldnt walk past the "Menu du jour" Great value and great variety. Service was terrific, fast and efficient and the staff were extremely patient with our extremely limited (aka non existant) french. All in all this place is definately worth a visit.

We were revisiting this cafe after a gap of several years and were looking forward to enjoying the interesting view, after a long bike ride. However, we arrived at the end of the lunch time period (approximately 15.00 hours) and were completely ignored by the staff for approximately 15 minutes so we left. There was no eye contact to show our presence had been registered and certainly no regret expressed at keeping us waiting and an intention to be with us soon. Don't bother to go somewhere where the staff can be so rude.

Called in for holiday tea with 2 hungry boys (8&10). Really lovely location. Simple, quaint, rustic.Friendly staff (no English spoken) quick to respond.Food delicious although moules mariniere could have done with a little more juice/sauce as there were a lot of them and meal was potentially dry.A must to try if in the area

We misses this meal a lot! The restaurant is obviously a popular one, arrive at noon for lunch and by 12:30 it's already full! We order the oyster special of the day and baked oyster, so tasty! The fresh fish dish recommended are delicious. Would definitely return again just to enjoy the seafood meal in the island!!!!

Simply excellent in all respects. If I could give a score of not just 5 stars, but 6, 7 or even more, then I would, without hesitation. The setting is just right for a Sunday lunch, after a visit to the wonderful Le Chateau Market. We had a table outside, but shady, which suited us perfectly. Service was with a smile throughout as well as being helpful, prompt and attentive. We had the Formule Bistrôt: Entrée & Plat for 16E50 each, plus a demi-litre of Rosé en pichet, @ 9E which was refreshingly chilled and presumably local. The "Formule Bistrôt" - far from being a fixed menu-du-jour, offered us a wide range of eating, with about 6 choices for both Entrée & also for Plat. We felt spoiled for choice. Entrée 1: Rillettes de Thon - Superb, light, full of flavour, with a well-seasoned salad, accompanied by what seemed to be artisanale sourdough bread, very tasty tooEntrée 2: Goat's Cheese in Filo pastry, with salad. Wonderful, tasty and delicate.Plat 1: 3 x Poissons grillés a la Plancha - Bream, Sole & Tuna. Perfect mix, beautifully cooked and mouth-wateringly good presentation. Tasted divine. Accompanying potatoes and al dente vegetables were lovely, full of flavour, with a light white creamy sauce which didn't drown out the delicate flavours of the fish..Plat 2: 3 x Viandes grillées, again a la Plancha - Duck, Beef & Pork, all beautifully cooked and presented, with roast potatoes and grilled vegetables. All DELICIOUS. Again with light creamy white sauce. No room for a dessert, so Coffees to finish the perfect meal. All served with a smile, by an efficient and friendly young waitress. What a lunch experience....! We've eaten in most of the restaurants close by the market and this was by far the best lunch experience we've had in Le Chateau. In fact, one of the best meals we've ever had in France

We were looking for somewhere to eat and photograph the bridge to Ile De Oleron, on Tuesday we found it appears many restaurants were closed! However following a search on m sat nav which was our last resort, we navigated to a couple of places without success finally I found this restaurant listed and we gave it a go. Came across it very accurately, thanks garmin, this place is a lovely chic restaurant with a very personal and homely feel with a rustic touch. A very different menu for us really which is refreshing and some nice touches. I had duck and my wife had steak, the owner, waitress did not speak English but generally not a problem and we muddled our way through the menu, I have to say mainly to avoid getting blue steak.... But easy enough. Find this place out its well worth a visit. Very nice selection of wines, always good to see local selections.Deserts also have an excellent choice and you will be hard pressed not to try one, the best is the selection of deserts which my wife had you get a coffee with this,I. Had crumble with fruit of the season, which seemed to be peach and pear with some apricots too, possibly, very nice and different. Also not a bad price, we had a good wine and two courses for two with coffee for 65 euro.merci beaucoup pour votre commentaire et nous sommes ravis que cela vous ai plu aussi bien le menu que le restaurantcordialementEric et Viviane
