Reviews on Seafood food in Lamu Island, Coast Province, Kenya. The main town on the island of the same name just off Kenya's northeastern coast, tranquil Lamu was founded in the 14th century, making it the country's oldest living town and the best-preserved Swahili settlement in East Africa. Lamu Museum (with its prized siwa horns) and the two-centuries-old Lamu Fort are two of the main attractions. The restored Swahili House Museum is small but quite interesting. About a 30-minute walk north of town, white sandy Shela Beach is one of the island's best.

The Restaurant is Part of Sunsail Hotel, located at the Beachfront and centre of Lamu town. Experience the swahili lifestyle and dine the Island way. Seafood Grills every evening on the Beachfront, Ala-Carte Menu.
Amazing place to be in Lamu, for meetings or Family dinners or even just by yourself, you can just chill at the balcony all day and see the busy Lamu, they have Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, good services, Friendly atmosphere. seafood varieties, snacks, bbqs, fresh juices. and have Ala-Carte Menu as well.
A bit further away from the buzz of main seafront, but still overlooking the sea,it is situated right next to the donkey sanctuary. Cool place, with few tables. Tasty and well prepared food in fair portions, unlike other restaurants along the seafront. Grilled fish was a bit dry, but curry fish was pefect! Prices a bit lower than regular, but just a bit. Recommended!
On the waterfront with a view. The menu is simple and not always everything is available. But what is available is tasty and well prepared. Often one of the kids is send to the market to buy, on the spot, fresh ingredients. We liked the curries and the fried calamari. Simple hug good

it is just 2 mints far from the sea shore of shella village which is in Lamu kenya.
Spent 4 nights here having spent nights in other hotels in shela and lamu, and it is BY FAR the best place you can stay. Wondeful room on top floor with big terrace, swinging bed, lounge chairs, great room, beautiful bed, great bathroom with hot water.Restaurant equally great and very attentive cook.Guys who work here are so so so so so friendly and nice they literally made our stay.A little overpriced, but negotiable prices if you get friendly :)

The food was about average here and the owner was very nice. There was only one other group in the restaurant, but it delayed our meal about 1.5 hours! No blender for their juices either

The hotel sits silently at the lamu sea front. If not careful you'll pass it and miss out on the greatest sea food restaurant in the whole of Lamu islandCant wait to go back!

Arrived in Shela on Lamu Island from the airport on Manda island and needed lunch and a very cold beer. We found a lovely hospitable restaurant with great staff, who give excellent service with a sense of humour. Lunch was just what we needed, large portions freshly cooked and not out of the way expensive. You can see why Lamu and Peponi House go together.
