Simple but stylelish food. Peacefull and relaxing environment.
We were walking to Benagil beach along the cliffs but were caught in the rain. Popped into this restaurant to escape the rain and have a warm drink. One coffee and a hot chocolate later, the rain had stopped and we were on our way again. Perfectly pleasant restaurant, slightly larger than it looks from the outside.

Went for our evening meal slightly early than normal and managed to get the last table for 4 inside ....only 4 tables inside and about 8 outside... always full when you pass... food cooked on an open grill outside then passed back through to the restaurant.... didnât have starters but opted for whole red snapper and whole golden bream, pork dish and a burger... the fish was fantastic weighed in front of you then grilled whole outside ... excellent value for money .... have been to many fish restaurants in the Algarve where then would be happy to charge you 4 times as much for the same fish....try to book to avoid disappointment

A Vela offers a variety of traditional, international and Mediterranean cuisine. You can start of with a magnificent traditional dish from the Algarve Coast, Muxama (dried tuna salad) or even share a national cheese plate with homemade jams. As a main you

Cozy space, excellent choices on the menu, we have places in balcony, great place to be with family and enjoy good times.
We enjoyed a really nice meal here with great food and wine at a reasonable price. However, apart from a woman eating on her own we were the only people eating on a Saturday night which was disappointing and must be a concern for them, even though it was in January. The waitress was very good fun and friendly without being over familiar and overall the dining experience was very good.

Thereâs a lot of good to be said about this place. The food was very tasty and well priced compared to a lot of places in Carvoeiro. Staff were overall very friendly too. My only criticisms were the attempts at boat trip sales by one of the waiters. I also donât agree with bread and olives being presented to you and then being expected to pay for them at the end without having asked for them. On this basis Iâm not sure Iâd return.

Open 7 days a week from 12 noon until 11pm. Family friendly.
Really enjoyed our meal again this year at Casa Algarvia, the traditional dishes are really lovely and the fresh fish is fantastic. We had the same great service from by and large a similar serving staff, all very friendly and helpful.

As you drive down to the little fishing village of Praia de Benagil...the O Algar is on the side of a hill on your left. This is a family run restaurant with a very friendly atmosphere and service.
This is my favourite restaurant in the Algarve. It's family run and the waiters are friendly and attentive. The food is amazing, my favourite being the monkfish and prawn kebab. Set on the hill just above the expensive Pescadore restaurant, great views and in the summer the balcony holds the sun until late. This is my favourite place to eat in Portugal.. highly recommended.

Back in Manchester now and remembering the many meals we have enjoyed with Joao and his staff in 2019. Already booked our first visits for 2020. Have been visiting Joao for 19 years now and have yet to have a less than fantastic meal (and experience his banter!) Put it onto your "must visit" list next time and order the Lamb Fillet if he has managed to get some from that days market, Sylvia and NormanThank you Kiss see you
