Very nice place to eat. The menu is big but not everything is available. Only 1 out of 4 meals tasted good. Very good staff and service though.
Found Nico's Beach Lounge as we were driving along the the beach. Stopped in for lunch. Outdoor tables overlooking the ocean. Good Food. Cold Beer. Nice Service. It is a great place to hang out and relax during the day. It looks like it could be a lot of fun at night too.
My wife and our grown sons stopped in a few days ago and we had a night to remember! We dined early and got to know the owner, bar tender, kitchen and wait staff real well. We had grilled lobster, fresh fish (something close to a snapper) with a creole sauce, steak with peppercorns and a shrimp dish. All foods were delicious with excellent presentation! We received complimentary fried thinly cut plantains. The passion fruit margaritas were amazing. But truly the best part was the incredible staff. I worked for years in top scale restaurants, but these people topped it all. We joked around with the staff at the bar, they asked what music we would like played and then we got up and danced to the music on the beach as the sun set. My advice is to take the recommendations from the staff and dance when your song comes on!
My wife and I decided to go to this place because it was listed as a "Dog Friendly" restaurant. Pictures of the place on their Instagram profile were appealing.Following the directions on their Instagram profile (it appears as if this would be their only social media profile, along with a Facebook fanpage), it was really easy to get there. We arrived at the restaurant at around 3:00 pm to a crowded restaurant, but we were able to find a table really fast.We ordered a beer and a bottle of water even before we asked for the menus. After five minutes, we asked a waiter to take our order. We asked for a Sushi platter and Chicken croquettes for starters while we took our time exploring the menu for the main dishes. After 20 minutes, my beer had not arrived. I signaled the waiter for my beer and it was evident that he had forgotten about it. I asked for a normal Presidente but he brought a light one instead. The waiter offered to change it, but I did not want to risk another 20 minute wait. After 30 minutes, the waiters tells me that they ran out of Sushi rice. I ask what starter arrives the fastest and he tells me that the Mozzarella Sticks should be my choice and we both agree. I remind him of the Chicken croquettes my wife had ordered, because I want them both to arrive together. It took 40 minutes total, but our starters had finally arrived. The Mozzarella Sticks were a blob of grease and the Chicken croquettes were Fish croquettes instead, really oily as well. If weren't at the beach on a remote restaurant from my home, I would've asked for the check and cut my losses, however, I had already made the trip and my wife was enjoying the beach. Often times, restaurants underestimate the dangers of serving foods that the customer did not order. Had I been allergic to fish, I would've found myself in a very complicated situation, since i had given the Croquette one full bite. My wife also pointed out that the Mozzarella sticks tasted as if they had been fried on the same oil as the Fish croquettes.During the 40 minute wait, we had plenty of time to look at the menu. We both decided on something that we assumed had the most rotation out of the menu. It was Moro de Guandules with Churrasco and Fried Sweet Plantain Bits. The combination sounded great. Having waited so long for our starters, we ordered two more beers and headed to the beach to relax and decided not to stress over the possible hour long wait for our entrees to arrive. We were really surprised when our ordered arrived at our table 15 minutes after placing the order. My wife and I were right about something, this was their most-ordered item and we figured that out because this was not made to order. The rice was lukewarm as if it was put on a microwave. The churrasco appeared to have been seasoned with Sazón Ranchero and the sweet plantain were a bit undercooked (Later that day we both had upset stomachs). All in all, I have to give it to the staff. They were really putting in their best effort, despite the kitchen not cooperating.Soya Azul gets away with high prices for less-than-average food because they're right at the beach. Hope they improve, and I'm even considering going there again to give them another chance at winning me over. The live band was off-the-charts good and the setting is ideal.I will keep you posted.

beach club, Embassy Suites Juan Dolio
I visited long time ago on a Holiday. I came across these pictures and it looks even worse, as if it needs a facelift. The time I went (maybe 2007 or 2008) it was very crowded... since it was a popular spot.It didn't feel special enough for couples nor cool enough for families.Food was ok.It's a good spot for locals to go on a day off only... but if I was a tourist, I'd skip this place since there's really nothing to see or experience.

I had been a few times and was never terribly impressed with their entrees. The free appetizers that they bring out are better than anything else they serve, actually and usually include grilled and marinated peppers, eggplant, a little mozarella and tomstor, some bread and olive oil. The last 3 or 4 times I tried to get shrimp or lobster they were close early due to lack of ingredients. What kind of restaurant doesn't have an adequate supply of food?

We are a casual cuisine restaurant really close to the beach. We have vegetarian and vegan options, a children's menu, and we are petfriendly.
We arrived at Sal Marina around 6pm, this restaurant is quaint, yet modern. There is not much seating, but what there was was nearly full by the time we left. The menu had a nice variety to meet everyone's needs and they had a slide show running with pictures of their plates. This was a good move on their part, as we ended up wanting/ getting more! My husband had steak, I had a hamburger, I do not recall what my parents had, but I know they were happy about it! I would return!

I have been vacationing in Juan Dolio the past five years. Every time I dine in El Meson restaurant. The presentation, quality, and taste of the food is excellent. They have good portions and value is worth it.
